Ok, how many here are without electricity? Ours went out around midnight last night. Generator running and all extension cords being used.

Since I came into this world, I've been without power. For the best, really. I'd probably just abuse it.:D

Unfortunately, I could only give that post 1 "like."
Fortunately, we lost power half a dozen times last night but all were "momentary," just enough to mess with computers, modem, and "cooling compressors." Joe

I would have bet money that we would have lost power when Helene went by us. To my surprise we did not - not even a flicker. Last hurricane (Ian) we lost power for almost 3 days. Thankfully we had the Generac on duty.

From 3:30am. to about 11am. The western part of the eye went over my house around 6am. I'm thankful God was watching over us as I have a bunch of trees. I was prepared to be out of power for a week. Big surprise as others in Habersham County, GA still are out.

Mine was out for 1.5 hours the other day, but I'm 3000 miles away. A transformer blew.

They took our power down at 2:00 PM. today.
they said our power feed had to go down so that the could fix a feed in the next county over,,
They predicted a 2 hour outage

I hope it works,, three surrounding counties have been 80-100% out since yesterday morning,,

I have a Harbor Freight inverter,, 750 watt??
It runs the internet, computers, wife's CPAP,, TV,, a few lights.

We have never been out of power long enough to drain a car battery,,
Typically, 2 to 5 hours maximum,,
I have a 10K generator,, if the power is down for 3 or more hours,,, recharge the fridge,, etc,,

Son is in Roanoke, he got a motel as his rental had no power. Ours is Still out. Heard Ga. power is “ concentrating on the big cities” so to heck with small towns. Hope to be moving early next year.

I call that 'McNamara thinking'. If you have a fix that gets the lights on for 1,000 people, or a fix that works for 100,000, guess which one looks better on the sortie sheet.;)

SOP for all power companies .

I was back on power just after I posted above. I think Laurens Electric and Duke Power did a spectacular job considering the massive number of trees down and the amount of local flooding.
