How much did you pay for your M&P Shield?

Of those that have gotten their "shield" Is there any noticeable difference in the trigger compared to the MPc? Thank You.

Pretty much the same, except the reset is more pronounced. Mine was reworked (like my 9c was done 2yrs ago) new sear and other good stuff done to it. Trigger pull is @ 4lbs, over travel shortened.

LGS had two the first day they sold riht away for $390. We are fortunate in our little berg, the store is run by good folks and they have prices that usually beat Bud's.

$390 is a great price. Buds is selling them at $449 plus you have to be a VIP member which is another $25 bucks. They sold out quickly but they have more in stock today.

The economic disadvantage of my LGS is that we have to pay the hefty local tax to feed local socialism. Sometimes it is more advantageous to buy online, but I usually buy locally.

A local gun store has one priced at $429 plus tax. I didn't purchase it but it was nice to see it was in stock so I could hold it in my hand. There's a very nice feel to that gun.

MY LGS has them for $379.

I didn't care for the way it felt in my hand. (I didn't buy). I havent hefted a compact M&P yet.

Where? Can't find one in Orlando, FL...

A little pawn shop / gun shop in N. Ft. Myers. I heard another customer ask the owner if / when they'd be getting any. The owner said he was expecting them at any time. He checked the delivery that had just been made and discovered two. I got one of them. A case of 9MM ammo is scheduled for delivery to my door today by UPS. A comparison between my Shield, M&P9C and PM9 is upcoming.

$354 for the gun plus shipping, tax total $400
galleryofguns.com Gun Genie
Ordered online Saturday night....just picked it up about an hour ago.
Very smooth transaction!

$367 + tax + background check. Total was $422.

Got it through the Gun Genie and the original dealer I ordered it through tried to add an addition background check fee on top of my invoice price which said it was included. I walked and had the Gun Genie people take care of it. They sent it to another dealer and I got it for the same price. Sadly that price undercut the new dealer and he was forced to eat the loss. He said he made $19 on the deal because he was essentially eating the shipping cost and the tax on the shipping cost which the original dealer didn't factor in.

$440 OTD from LGS

Edit: just got my $50 military rebate from S&W so final price is $390 OTD

Any gun shop selling these below MSRP is missing the boat IMO. They can sell these all day long at $449 with the amount of buzz out there. If you can get one for less, by all means grab one!

I think that is the way our goverment thinks as well! I will have to disagree with you on this one ponchsox! Just because someone will pay it doesn't make it ok. This situation isn't illegal because we don't HAVE to buy it. I am all for everybody making their buck, but if they charge more then their usual mark up just because, they are taking advantage of me. My LGS had it for MSRP as well. I asked the guy if they had any other guns for sale at MSRP & he said no. I fondled it and left!

This is a tough call. A gun shop gets only so many... and the demand is high! I think if it were my shop, I'd sell all but one, and let customers see and handle the last one. That way I could still give a great deal which my customers expect, and I could keep a sample for them to hold and hopefully order.

Gun shops don't make much on new guns. That extra $20 or $40 they overcharge for the 3 Shields they got from Smith is not going to make their day. So why overcharge?

I'd rather sell at my normal markup, make a few customers VERY happy they could get a Shield at a fab price, then those customers show their buddies and they tell them where they bought it at a great price and say "Yes he has one down there to look at and check out right now!".

That satisfaction and customer service will be worth a lot more than the extra $80 or so you could have gouged out of a few customers that really want a Shield....

I like the saying: "You can shear a sheep every year, but you can only slaughter it once."

$418 total through Gun Genie. I had called my LGS to get one for me, and when they couldn't, they called me back and said to go ahead with the Gun Genie order. I think it's always polite to give them first crack.

My LGS sells everything at MSRP, so the Shield is no different. I just think this is funny, because I stopped at a Gander Mountain today, just to see if they had the Shield in yet, and the guy said, "No, but would you like to hold one?" They had sold two this morning within a half hour of opening, but are keeping one for just that purpose. Once I held it, I had to have it and by this afternoon, my LGS called and said mine was in, but as I said, it's MSRP, as they sell everything else.

(Oh, and buying on line isn't a good option for me, once shipping, tax, background check and transfer fees are figured in; it would come out a wash anyway....)

When I was finally able to find (stumble across) one locally I fully expected to pay MSRP. I think a got a pretty nice unexpected discount on mine, but can honestly say that had I been quoted the MSRP I still would've purchased it simply because I wanted it. I'm too old and impatient when it comes to things like this. I want it now!:D
