How often to clean your Firearm

For shooters:
After every use (firing)

For carry weapons:
If I carry it, I will run a patch through the barrel (and cylinders) once a week

For the stuff that doesnt come out of the "safe" very often:
Whenever I can, maybe once every 6 months, or longer. They are all oiled and waxed before being put away.

If I shoot it I clean it. Otherwise it sets either in a drawer, a range bag or on a shelf. Sometimes I just enjoy taking one out and giving it a good once over.

Daddy always said

"Never let the sun set on a dirty gun."

I try not to but today at the range we shot a 243, 270 and 300 win mag, all SS. The pistols got carried along but not shot. The 52-2 did get fondled by my friend. He really likes that gun. It will get wiped off tonight with "Collector" and the others will get cleaned tomorrow evening. Sorry Dad, best I can do..

Depending on the weapons and ammo uaed. My Glocks and Smiths, almost never. As in once every 6 months or so. Even if i shoot them weekly. My AKs, as long as its not corrosive ammo once a year give or take a month. Mauser with corrosive ammo, as soon as possible.
