We bought this from a family friend about 15 years ago. It was her father's I think. I know he was in WW I I for sure not sure if he was old enough for the first one but maybe...

Thanks for the help!

Thanks everyone! We love it! There's probably no way to tell if it was used in the war? Who carried them?

It is a 1943 Victory Model. It is about as nice a one as I've seen lately. Congrats!

My thought exactly. Later months of 1943. A standard military-shipped specimen with all the correct markings in little-used, close to unissued condition, with stocks and finish in very nice shape.

The military Victory was mostly supplied to the Navy, for use by aviators and other such functions as personal defense sidearms. This one may not have made it into active service, given its condition.

Man, I'm starting to wonder if we should continue to shoot this one now? Thoughts?

Yeah that's kinda how we've treated this one... but we have other 357s that we shoot if we'r going to shoot 38s for the day...

Henry,

Welcome to the forum!! As you can see, this is a great place to hang out.

You have a beautiful Victory there, but as long as you don't abuse it, shooting it is not going to hurt it...that is one of the nicest ones that we have seen, but they were made to shoot!!! It is basically the WWII version of the Smith and Wesson's bread and butter .38 Hand Ejector, or "Military and Police", later to become the "Model 10". There have been millions of them made over a hundred years, and with proper care, I don't think you will wear it out.

Best Regards, Les

Thanks Les. I have been enjoying it way too much! My wife always tells me I've been on my phone a lot! Lol doesn't hurt anything while "we'r " watching TV lol. Plus I always reply with its very similar to reading a book!

Went to the range today... m&p did not accompany us. But we still got plenty of Bulls bullseyes in!
