How quiet is Remington Subsonic

I'm a newbie myself, but I think it has something to do with twist rate and bullet stabilization. Also, some of the subsonic stuff that won't cycle can be dangerous if a round gets lodged in a barrel. I could be wrong

Not gonna get lodged in the barrel. There is very little difference in velocity between subsonic rounds & standard rounds. For example, CCI subsonic goes at 1050 feet per second while the CCI mini-mag is at 1260 fps. At that speed, all will get down the barrel with no problem. Only difference is the subsonic will not break the sound barrier & you will not hear that crack. But keep in mind these velocities are nothing like a true AR shooting .223, which moves at over 3000 fps. IMO, you only see a real difference between higher velocity 22lr & subsonic is when shooting suppressed. Only then would you really notice the sonic crack.

The 22 bullet is an old design & not really aerodynamically sound. When it goes thru the sound barrier it is buffeted, not unlike the early jets that attempted to break it. It also gets bounced around when it slows back down. That is why almost all match ammo, where accuracy really counts, is subsonic. CCI's best target ammo, Green Label, is their normal standard velocity (which also is subsonic) but just is the cream of the production run & QC checked closer.

Look I'm a printer & not a scientist, but this is what I understand & have learned around here & on the internet. I will be shooting suppressed soon as my stamp comes in & I have a nice stock of CCI subsonic & standard velocity/green label ammo. All 3 shoot great in my 15/22 & I have never had any cycling issues or any failures at all. Plus, when the suppressor is added, back pressure will increase & help even more.

If you want quite, try the CCI CB's, there are about as loud as a pellet rifle.
Though the CB's or CB longs are pretty quiet thare is still a crack. The issue with some subsonics in autos is that they are a pain to shoot because they may cause feed issues. This is especially true with the 15-22 with the charging handle and the protruding ejector. Shooting the 15-22 is great fun but it's versility is limited by the ammo it will digest without issues.
