I'm a newbie myself, but I think it has something to do with twist rate and bullet stabilization. Also, some of the subsonic stuff that won't cycle can be dangerous if a round gets lodged in a barrel. I could be wrong

Though the CB's or CB longs are pretty quiet thare is still a crack. The issue with some subsonics in autos is that they are a pain to shoot because they may cause feed issues. This is especially true with the 15-22 with the charging handle and the protruding ejector. Shooting the 15-22 is great fun but it's versility is limited by the ammo it will digest without issues.If you want quite, try the CCI CB's, there are about as loud as a pellet rifle.
