Unfired, with box, no papers. I'm the original owner and there is a chance that given the effort, I might find some records from the state of Minnesota. The finish is blue, and the barrel is 8 3/8". The gun has standard hammer and trigger. I'm just guessing that the combination of 8 3/8" barrel with standard hammer and trigger might be unusual. I would think most 8 3/8" guns would have been built with target hammer and target trigger. The serial number is N231***. The gun has been kept oiled and rarely taken out of the box. I'm trying to arrive at a fair price before I put it in the "Guns for Sale" section. Your indulgence is appreciated.

Most 27-2s prior to September 1975 (your 27-2 probably dates to late 74 or early 75) were fitted with a standard hammer and trigger and checked Magna stocks.

Well, good news/bad news. That means my other 27-2 which I'm keeping N185*** which was ordered with target hammer, target trigger and target stocks is somewhat rare. My heirs will appreciate it. Thanks.

The other thing is that the 8 3/8 inch barrel is the least desirable, but if you can get a 3 1/2 inch, now you're cooking with propane.

Just a quick comment regarding the earlier post about the short barrel being more desirable/valuable - as you probably recall from the time period you bought the gun (you said you bought it new), the 8 3/8" barrels were far more rare (fewest produced) and most desirable at that time, and had a healthy premium attached to them. Currently, the 3.5" barrels are all the rage, likely a result of the far greater availability of concealed carry permits. The long tubes are still more rare, as far fewer were produced, and I expect market trends will, at some point, go through another cycle, and the rarest guns will, once again, go up significantly in price.

at this point among collectors/shooters...i dont think you will find "somewhat rare"for a 27-2...there are plenty out there...very nice guns for sure however....welcome to the forum!
