Please note that Lee edited out the live links I had in the post since they create issues with the forum. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

No, I don't mean eBay! I find quite a few deals for my rifles on AR15.com and their Equipment Exchange section. With a bit of patience, you can find good kit at good prices for your 15-22. And with some 65,000 members, there are always people selling kit at aggressive prices in order to fund a new rifle or accessory.

Here are a couple of tips that can save you some money while getting some nice stuff (I believe you have to register to send IMs and e-mails to a member though).

1. Shop Local or Face-to-Face (FTF):

Go to the AR15.com

Go to the "Hometown" forum

Select the State where you live and click the folder. For example, I live in Virginia. When I click the Virginias, one of the first things I see in my Hometown is a link to "EE Search by State." When I click that I go to a sub folder that has an automatic search function for not only Virginia, but also for West Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland. Clicking anyone of those State's links brings up all the items for sale by members within the State. That's a great way to jump on a local/FTF sale.

Not all the State's have that nice concise function. Take NY for example. When you go to that Hometown, you'll see a link for State by State EE Search. When you click that link, you're taken to a drop down box where you select your State, then the search is performed.

2. Search by a specific item.

Go to AR15.com

Select the Equipment Exchange

Now, instead of looking through all the sub forums, just click the Search button. When you do, the search box comes up where you can put in the item your looking for, like EOTECH or MBUS, etc. Then just hit enter. The default search is for the ads posted or bumped to the top in the last 24hrs. If you don't find what you want, then do the search again but select a longer period for the last post (3 days, 7 days, 14 days, etc).

Because so many of the AR accessories fit the 15-22, Arfcom is a great place to find stuff at decent prices. For example, I picked up an EOTech 512 for $325 shipped, an EOTech XPS-2 for $400 shipped, an FSC556 flash suppressor (for my AR) for $85 shipped and H&K Marine magazines for a 5.56 for $35ea. I've routinely seen ACOGS for $800 and under! Patience is the key as well as the normal precautions when dealing over the internet. I've bought and sold stuff there with great success for years.

There are other forums where you can do the same, even here in the Smith Classifeds, but I'm not sure you'll find the volume of stuff that moves through Arfcom.

Provided only for information. You make the choices right for you with your money.

There needs to be a sticky and evertime someone finds a bottom dollar on a part they can list it

I almost bought an ACOG for $750 today I found on Arfcom. I just can't bring myself to do it since I don't shoot past 100 yards.

Wow that's a heck of a price!

Yes, but it was the one with the red triangle reticle, not my cup of tea. There's also so darn many versions of the ACOG you have to know what you're really looking for, as well as being fast before someone else scoops it up.

True enough, you basically need to have the Trijicon web site open on the model you want, so that you have the full convoluted model number ready... I myself like the 4 power green fibre optic, desert tan model with the micro dot on top. ($1900 MSRP)
