Pictures almost always make threads better. They really are worth 1,000 words. Alas, for those not familiar with the foibles of sites like this, getting pictures into a thread can be a challenge. So, I'm going to try to give a little tutorial here.

There are two ways to get a picture into a thread. The first is to add the picture as an attachment. Here's how to do that:

Start a new post or a reply.
Scroll down just below the entry window and you'll see this button:

Click on it.
This window will open up:

Click on

and search your computer for the picture you want.
Then click the

button to the right of the
d6fa8eb4-690d-43d9-beff-7c8baf3b36c4.png
button.
The Manage Attachments window will display "Uploading Attachments" for a minute and then change to look something like this:
a13483b1-1c56-4574-bddd-8abf95248bf6.png

The name of the file you just uploaded should be in the Current Attachments box.

That's it. The picture will now be attached just like you see the picture attached to this reply.

If you want to learn how to embed the pic in the reply like I did with your pictures in post #15, that's just a little more involved.

Give it a try. What do you have to lose?

That first post showed how to attach a picture. That's great, but what if you want the picture to be embedded in the post so it flows with the text like this:
attachment.php

First the image must be on the internet somewhere. You can use an image hosting service like imgur.com or any of a number of other free sites. Load it to that site, then copy the image location URL, click the image button and viola it's embedded!

Wait Rastoff, what was all that stuff about a UR? and location something or other???

OK, here's a more detailed explanation...

Remember this window from the OP?

Follow the steps until you have this window and have uploaded the pic just like before. This time click on the link (the orange name of your picture) in the Current Attachments area. This will take you to another window/tab like this:
wluglBT.jpg

Right click on the picture and you'll get a popup like this:
4aLbB34.jpg

How this popup looks will depend on your browser. I'm using FireFox and yours may not look like this. No matter, what you want is to click on Copy Image Location.

Then navigate back to your post and click on the
insertimage.gif
button.

Press Ctrl+v - this is the shortcut command for Paste and it will paste the location you just copied into the window that just popped up. Then just click OK and the picture will be embedded into your post.

One addition to this nice explanation of the process:

You can repeat this up to 5 times to attach 5 pictures to a post at the same time. Just keep clicking "Browse" and then "Upload" until the window indicates you've reached the max of 5 images.

I have a Chrome Book.
These can't get a virus, but I can't upload pics from my cell phone.
That's why I always say if you want to see pics PM a email or text number.

I don't need ransom ware protection or be a computer whiz.
Just the basics for me.

You can use the same procedure to load pics from your phone. Just open the forum in a web browser and all the same tools will work. I've done it many times.

Oh, and there's no such thing as a device that can connect to the internet that can't get a virus.

Yes and no. I'm no expert, but we had to hear all this when our school got sets of Chromebooks. Chromebooks don't get conventional "viruses" because you can't install executable programs, but they are still vulnerable to hijacks and "bad" extensions that operate within the "boxes" that Google technology uses to protect the system. Maybe there are folks here who can explain this better.

Yes, maybe not the same virus another device might get through an exe file. Still, any device that has volatile memory (has any kind of memory) is vulnerable at some level.

Thank you to everyone who posted some ideas and suggestions for me. I sincerely appreciate your trouble. I think I have it figured out enough to use the Forum software to get pictures attached. I'm going with that for awhile until I figure out how to get any fancier. Thank you all again very much. grendelbean.

I've been using Imgur. On that site, each image will have a selection of file codes to the right of the photo. You can either use the "Direct" image code and add your own Img/img tags (or some forums do it for you). Or, if you select the BBC option, the IMG tags are placed for you . . .
