How to tell latest model of the SW9VE?

I am new to this forum, but not new to firearms. I am getting ready to buy a SW9VE and was wondering how I can tell if the one I am looking at is a current model? I find that in some cases dealers have older models. Any help would be appreciated. I am also considering the 40S&W. Not sure which one to get, since I am already reloading for the 9mm.

The Sigma Series is available in either 9mm or .40 S&W and both are available with a matte stainless slide and either a black frame or a NATO green frame. There is also an all-black version.
AFAIK there have been no significant mechanism changes since the "E" suffix was added to the model name.
