How's your ammo?

I bought 1000rds of 147gr 9mm WWB last month before all this started. I have a bunch squirrelled away as well. Shooting more .22 at the range these days and just enough centerfire to keep proficient. I am always doing a LOT of dry fire practice at home, that helps a lot. So I am good to go.

If you have been in this sport/hobby for 10 or more years and you have a shortage of componants, well..........

Absolutely no worries here. I learned decades ago the wisdom of "Buy it cheap and stack it deep".

I may not be able to go shopping, dine out or hit the night life for who knows how long now. But enjoying the desert solitude while target shooting is still on my list of achievable pleasures.

I think I'm in decent shape. I'm spending my self imposed quarantine at the reloading bench.

It's a bit of a quandary. We need to practice our head shots as I understand that's the only way to kill a zombie, but we don't want to use up too much of our ammo supply at the range. Perhaps I shouldn't worry as zombies eat brains and my house would be well down their list of places to snack.

What I found in the back of the closet.
A case of NATO overrun 9mm from Federal 1998 dated.
Three en-bloc of Danish AMA and an en-bloc of WWC 41

A few months ago WalMart had .22 on sale so I stocked up. That's all I buy. Everything else is home brew.

When lead wheel weights were outlawed I bought a lifetime supply of lead real cheap before the change to zinc happened.

The other day, after reading about ammo shortages, I thought maybe I should be proactive and get some more powder and primers. All my local stores had run out. To my amazement, one of my previous online vendors had what I wanted in stock, and it was even on sale.

I think I'll go shootin' tomorrow.

My SIL sent me a text. SG Ammo is not accepting any new orders for ammunition due to their overwhelming backlog. (I confirmed. SG has a flag up right at the top of their site. Bummer. They are my go to guys for ammo.)

I have an "accepted order" with them. We'll see if they wind up shipping it. :(

Generally I'm fine but I have to agree things are going kinda nuts. Seems NICS is delayed (at least in Illinois)- requests are coming back "pending".

Thought it was time to up armor my lawn mower.
I'd suggest wearing a cap, backwards maybe, when you fire those overhead rockets. You might get some comments about the cap being backwards, but you can address them with the Vulcan. ;)

According to SG Ammo's website, all previously accepted orders will be filled. You'll just have to wait a few extra days. I got an order from them Monday, and they shipped it in 48 hours instead of their usual 24, so no biggie there. The big hangup was with UPS. They must be swamped, too. My ammo reached my town's UPS facility, which is three miles from my home, around 7 am Friday, but it wasn't delivered until 7 pm Monday.

I'm good for small fire-fight I reckon....
