Humming Birds now gone?

I averaged about four a day during the summer. All of a sudden we had over 30 a day. We were filling the feeders several times a day. They were buzzing everywhere two days ago. Yesterday there were about eight. Today? Three this morning and one this afternoon. I think they started the trip. All I saw were Ruby Throat and one oddball white one for one trip to the feeders. I'll keep the feeders full for a few more days for stragglers.

I've seen about 6 today (one at a time) throughout the day but they have slowed down. I've read to leave the feeders up a bit after you think they're through (for stragglers).

I leave them up all year because three species (Anna's, Costa's, Black Chinned) have decided that the Vegas valley is good for it.

Down from about ten to one in a bunch. I guess he didn't get the message, or he figures why leave free food?

We get them year round here in WA. Ours seem more territorial than some videos I've seen where they all flock together.

We had a cold snap last winter that saw temps drop into the 20s for a week or so. It wasn't until months later that I noticed this. I guess she was looking for a warm spot to hole up but it was just too much for her.

She must have frozen solid and fell over.

I bought a "heated perch" that's designed for indoor bird cages, and mounted in that area in case another one comes looking for some warmth.

Probably Anna's Hummingbird, or maybe Rufous (AKA Ruthless) Hummingbird. Neither species plays nice with others.
