A moose is a big target to miss. They tend to stomp on anything that annoys them. In AK, it was not uncommon for them to stomp dogs into mush.

Hard to imagine just how big a moose really is until you stand right next to one. Visited an animal rehab center in Anchorage and you were separated from the moose by a chain link fence. They had a pile of branches there you could use to feed the moose. I'm 6'5" and I had to reach UP to the moose to feed it.

Fishing in Canada with my son's when nature called and I had to get off the boat to take care of business. I climbed up the rock's into the wood's and was squatting next to a tree when I heard something huffing and puffing and stomping it's feet behind me. As I tried to turn so I could see what it was, hoping it wasn't a bear, my son's started yelling to me from the boat that there was a moose behind me. Needless to say I took off running back to the boat and never looked back.

I’ve been chased by a cow with a calf and cornered by a bull on a sandbar.

Heard a story about a Moose and a Horse up in Wyoming who both wanted the same Haystack.
End game, the Moose won.
The Horse and his blood was scattered around the haypile.

When I was up at the NWTC, in the bush if we woke to a grizzly in the camp we'd make a bunch of noise and it'd usually scurry off. If we woke to a moose in the camp, everyone got real quite in hopes that it would wander off on its own and not flatten everything in sight.

I hunt that same unit, but only during rifle seasons. I don't want to get within bow range of a belligerent critter that size.
