Oh yes, I think they'd outlaw hunting altogether if they could. Live most of my life here and part in FL, FL is a very gun friendly state with OH being about the worst.
Wow, I was having doubts about deer hunting with the 4"er but you all have given me some good info.. Here in Idaho there doesn't appear to be a barrel length minimum. So I'm going to do some extensive practice and scouting this summer and enjoy the mountains this fall.
I concur, if is was good enough for Elmer, it is good enough for anyone. You have enough weapon, just make absolutely certain you can hit with it. Short radius, light muzzle weight, heavier recoil due to the short barrel, more muzzle blast... all factors for many shooters. The plus....very easy packing, works well in all shooting positions, and fun to shoot.
