I just bought a 629 with a 7.5" ported barrel and leupold scope. I am wondering what kind of ammo has been used sucessfully on white tail deer? Thanks, bandleader

Hornady 9085 - 240 Grain XTP @ 1350 fps

Hornady 9088 - 300 Grain XTP @ 1150 fps

Ive used the XTP 240 on deer and the XTP 300 on Hogs with excellent results.

Any of the 240 Grain JHP seem to work on deer. Several of my friends have had good results with the budget Federal AE44A on deer . Just use the one that shoots best out of your revolver. When it comes to hogs you have to be more selective to get adequate penetration.

Anybodies 240 grain hollow point factory loaded to magnum specs should pretty much flatten a whitetail. Use the one with best availability in your area.

Thanks

I'll be in my local gun shop tomorrow to get some. Thanks for the advice.

Most Wal Marts carry the WWWB 240gr jsp for about $34.00 per box of 50. May not be the very best for any purpose, but not a bad general purpose rnd if you don't load. 240@1200fps, save your brass for later.
