There is virtually no relationship between barrel length an accuracy. The ONLY purpose for a longer barrel is more "velocity". This holds true for handguns, benchrest rifles, and those sixteen inchers on the USS Missouri
I have a 460 with a 14" barrel and Leupold 2.5-8 scope. My concern would be your accuracy with the 5" barrel even with optics. Mine is deadly accurate to 200 yds and then starts to drop off. I will shoot 300 yds but no more. I am shooting the Hornady ammo. I say go for it but I wouldn't want to shoot over 100 yds or so with a 5" barrel, but that's me. LOVE the 460.
Starting to think more and more about the 8" barrel. To me the 14" just seems too long, and that I should just buy a rifle at that point (just me though). Thanks for all of your input everyone! I am sad I missed Elk season this year, but I just had too much on my plate.

I don't recommend using the 200 FTX on game animals, opens to quick ruins to much meat.
I agree. While a great round for paper or Varmints, it's too fragile for big game.
I have the 10.5 model. It's accuracy amazes me every time I shoot it. For a backup firearm in a hip holster I would go with the 5''. For a primary hunting handgun, I would opt for longer.
...I carry my hunting revolver in a padded Pistol Case with D Rings added for a shoulder strap. I carry it with the strap across the chest, and the Case under my Left arm like a muzzleloader possibles bag. You can leave it unzipped on the end when stalking, or zip it shut for security in rough country. I like the case better than a holster for field carry.
