When did people become obsessed with skinny, thin females? And maybe more importantly, why?

I kinda liked.....

I was a little too young to see that when it came out. Not that it would have interested me, outside of Ms. Mirren.
I think the first role I saw her in was as Morgana in Excalibur.
Still one of my favorite movies.

I kinda like Katrine Boorman as Igrayne.
