I am done trying to help people

Sadly, clueless knows no boundaries and the lowest common denominator among us continues to redefine "low".

Ain't no helpin' those dolts. Best to just walk away and pray they don't breed.

After viewing Sigs, new and used, at Bass Pro Shop and two other gunshops here in Gwinnett county he swung back by here and announced he would take that Sig off my hands after all. I told him his opportunity had passed.

I don't blame you...I wouldn't sell it to him even if he offered more money. Now, a LOT more, maybe...but someone that dumb should pay a penalty. ;)

Love it!

What was his reaction?

That's exactly what I'd have told him!

An item is not worth what we pay for it, it's worth what someone else will pay for it. That was a screamin' deal you offered him! You could easily sell it for more than that.

I don't sell any of mine because I need the money. I sell because I've replaced it with something better, and always at fair market value. The price I put on it is already as low as I intend to go. When I get lowballed after offering an item for a good price, I don't mind telling someone to stick it in their ear!

It's not often that I literally laugh out loud reading this forum, but that did it. :D

Talk about looking-a-gift-horse-in-the-mouth.

You should have thrown in a new in box WWI artillery Luger to make it worth his while. Let me guess, he is under 30 years old?

Sorry, but while in post #29 he said he bought it used and added a new magazine, that little bit of info was not in post #1.

As or the ammo - those 20-boxes of self-defense type hollow points usually run between 20 and 30 bucks. So between 40 and 60 dollars for the ammo. That's not a "small amount". The prospective buyer's counter-offer was 46 dollars under the asking price, which seems fair since the ammo was not included.

ColbyBruce got a smokin' deal on a very nice used P226 that is worth significantly more than his asking price. He wasn't interested in a profit from the deal because he was doing a favor for a friend. The P226 is a highly-prized, high-quality semi-auto. In the Sig world, it's like owning a nice Mod. 27 or Mod. 19 in the S&W world. ColbyBruce was hurling pearls before swine, if you get what I'm saying.

Every p series sig I've bought since 1984 was 500$

NOT an educated consumer. We prefer to donate rather than put in all the work/ sit in the sun, get beat up for nickels and dimes, & deal with idiots stealing stuff priced for 25 cents.

He couldn't buy that gun for under $500 anywhere I know of.
Don't blame you, when I had a FFL years ago I bought several M1 Carbines when they were $150. A couple of friends begged for one since they had "always wanted one." Gave it to them at cost. In no time they both were bragging about how much they made selling them.
Unless you are my kid or my brother, I won't do that again.

To make a long story short, a friend's younger brother wanted a handgun. I offered him the Sig P226 for what I gave for it, $421.20. I told him where I bought it, even showed him the ad. This is less than the Taurus he was leaning toward buying. The guy looks carefully at the photo, asks if I have the ammo. I do not, I shot it up, gave some of the CD ammo away. This genius then offers me $375.00 for the package, as it is missing the ammo.

I certainly hope he enjoys his Taurus.

I don't believe you. You're like many of us here. You won't stop trying to help people.

Just avoid the stupid one's! ;)

When I buy or sell a gun, I have a price in mind. Either way take it or leave it. I don't haggle. Life is to short to argue with idiots.

I hope the big brother is nothing like the little one. By the way the big brother should have had a talk with the little one before he brought him around. Was he as dumbfounded at little bro's stupidity and bad manors as you were?
