I've been after this dang thing forever. I haven't been buying guns really for a while, but I dropped by a local gun shop to show off pictures of our brand new kiddo and there it sat. It's gold trigger saying to me; "Ask about me, you know you should, you've been picking up every lever gun that looks kind of like me in hopes of finding me for over a decade now..."

I obeyed the gun's command, and at $1200 out the door my wife was kind enough to give me the nod.

I had honestly given up on the dream of owning one, they just climbed so high in price lately, and prior to the extreme expense no one ever seemed to want to sell one.

I had one of the Brownings in 357. They're beautiful rifles.

SWEEeeeeet...nice find....

I've got a no safety Winchester Trapper in .357....... too nice to take into Penn's Woods. My woods gun is a Ruger 77/357 carbine. .357 is a great utility round east of the Mississippi.... and pairs nicely with a 60-10, 66 or 686.

Kind of funny they decided to label the box ".357 Winchester Magnum". Winchester helped develop the cartridge but I can't recall seeing it actually listed using their name. But maybe I just haven't been paying attention.

Mine in 357 and 44 mag are 94 AE trappers. They were some of the last New Haven Union made Winchesters. CNC machined fit is good and they shoot very well.
The Browning is nice. I have a 52 sporter and a m 42 pump.

Nice.

I have others in 357 but no Browning.

Being a modern kind of guy, my current grail gun is a Henry HO12MX. It's the newer one with the synthetic furniture, side gate, and threaded barrel. No luck finding one yet.

You've got a good and practical rifle there, for sure. I have a .357 Rossi '92, and it's a perfect match for caliber and gun.

I also have a Browning '92, but mine is chambered in .44 magnum. I have to be honest, I hate firing it with the magnum round, but it's just about perfect with .44 specials. My shoulder really takes a beating when shooting .44 mags.

Both the early Rossi and the Browning do not have the later lawyer-friendly tack-on safeties, but are just as John Browning designed them. Everything you need and nothing you don't!

You have a great rifle there!

John

Those are wonderful guns. I had Dale Storey's shop do a trigger job on my .357, and install a Lyman aperture sight with a blank in the rear sight slot. I used a little extra extra fine steel wool on the wood to knock off a litle of the gloss. In the hopefully mythical "if only one rifle" thing, it is mine. You'll never see it for sale by me.

Congrats to OP on acquiring your decade old quest.
I'd like to have a Winchester or browning 92 in .357 (and .44 plus .327) but for now hafta settle for gdaughters Uberti Taylor M73 clone in .357 that she has for CAS. Besides being a good shooter, it's fun to rip through a mag especially since it's been short-stroked.

Perfection in lumber protection given recent pricing! 👍

That's a great looking carbine. .357 carbines with the right load work great on woods whitetails.

Congratulations on a great find!!!! The perfect saddle gun in my opinion. I like the .357 in a carbine much more so than in a revolver personally. The Browning is the "Cadillac" of them all. I settled for a Marlin that rides in my pickup or scabbard every day.

Great find!

Mine was a Marlin 1894FG in 41 Mag. Like yours, they just aren't floating around anywhere to be found.

My dad bought the 357 version Marlin two years ago at Tulsa and I just got to fire it two weeks ago, it is really sweet ;)

The view from your deck is wonderful! I wish that our grass was soo green.
