Well a friend of mine is " down sizing " so I bought a few S&W's from him. Got a 629 3 inch, 625 Model of 1988, 625 Jerry Miculek and a model 619! Don't like those damn locks that the JM and 619 have but got a great deal on all 4. Really don't know anything about the 619 ( had heard about them but never saw one ) so not sure I got any deal on it ( $600 ) with the box, no tools or paperwork BUT did include a 7 round speed loader! Going to hit the range tomorrow!

Man did you clean up!! All of those are keepers and the 619 is almost impossible to find these days. Forget about that oil fill hole, it can be capped. Congrats!

So, what can you tell me about the 619? Any better than a 686 or 66, other than being a 7 shot?? Only picked it up because I had never seen one before.

It was supposed to be the model that replaced the M65. It has a two piece barrel. It's brother, the model 620, is basically the same but has adjustable sights as it was supposed to replace the 66. I never shot a 619 but I have two 620. They are consistently the best shooters in my collection. I doubt the 619 is different. Don't see many of either these days.

I feel dumbfounded that here on October 28, 2019, I had for 100% certain never heard of a Model 619. Ever!

There were three L frame, 4", two piece barrel .357's that came out in 2005, I believe it was. The 620, 520 which was basically the same as the 620 except blue with titanium cylinder and fiber optic front sight, and the 619 noted above. If I'm not mistake those models were S&W's first go at two piece barrels. It was a partial success because some of the barrel liners broke at the forward flange the forms the muzzle. Not sure of the cause. It happened to a forum member here who has pictures. S&W replaced his 620 with a 686 as the original gun was no longer in production at the time of warranty claim. That being said I think the new model 64's still utilize the exact same two piece barrel assembly.
