I've got my new I-bolt. It's pretty. I've cleaned and lubed it, and I've been running some snap caps through the action. and even, a time or two, real rounds, but I haven't fired it yet.

I'm rather far from a bolt action expert, but I think it's not working right.

It's got a double stack 4 shot non-removable magazine.

The two rounds that go on the left side, rounds 1 and 3, give me lots of trouble.

Round 3 is the most trouble, probably because it has all that jostling going on overhead as Round 2 is loaded and then ejected.

Sometimes Round 3 loads just fine. Sometimes it jumps out with the ejecting Round 2. What I really hate is when it pops up when the bolt is being drawn back to extract Round2, but stays on top. Then the bolt tries to feed both Round3 and Round4, and we have a nasty jam.

Round 1 generally feeds fine, but sometimes it pops its little butt out too far when being fed, and there's a stovepipe.

Rounds 2 and 4 have never been any problem.

I guess there's some kind of poetic justice in here for a left wing gun nut, but I wish I could fix it.

Any advice?

Should I send it to Smith and Wesson?

I've got this over on the long guns section too, but that doesn't seem to get much traffic.

I didn't think the eye-bolts used wing nuts.

Get it!?!

Eye-bolt...wing nut! I made a funny.

*Ba dum ching*

All joking aside, there shouldn't be a problem at all.
Could the follower be mounted in backwards? I had a Remington 700 in .264 that came from the factory that way.
Check the follower first, it's an easy fix...
I do hope it's something simple and easily resolved. :(

No, but wing nuts can use i-bolts. I think the follower is in right, worse luck. It seems to slope up to the front and left, just like the followers in my M&P pistol magazines.

The latest suggestion from my co-worker is that it is probably the left side lip that has problems.:D

I'm planning to go shoot it if I have to do it single shot.

Check to see if the spring under the follower is in right. I disassembled my Remington 700 ADL (internal mag) and the spring kept binding. I had to do it several times until it sat in the mag well correctly. I won't be taking that off again.

Well, it's got a droppable floor plate, or whatever you call it. I have dropped it, and there's nothing obviously wrong, and the spring is held on both ends.

I think it's held by a rivet or something, so I can try to pivot it around on the rivet maybe and see if alignment makes a difference. Or it may be positively held in.

Maybe this weekend I'll have time and energy to post some pictures on the long guns section of the forum.

Since it's new, I'd call S&W before doing anything that would void the warranty.

If they offer to send you a free shipping label, that's the way I'd go.

The I bolts have not been trouble free, it may be a known problem.
