Modern vision medical procedures. The reason I see well at 70.
I wore glasses since grade school. Bad astigmatism and near sighted, Couldn't read the E on top of the chart without squinting.
In 1999 flying south from Alaska I saw an ad in an in flight magazine for Lasik in Canada. A couple months later I had both eyes done for around $1400.. Best money I ever spent. Was like a kid at Christmas that night
About 2018 or so thing were dimming. Eye Dr said cataracts. Got one eye done, then the other. Chose mono vision, where one eye is 20-20 other slightly short so i can read or as I told the eye surgeon I want to see the front sight on a revolver. He said no problem. If I close left eye distance blurs a bit, or if I close right eye print blurs. Both open the help each other both ways, normally I never notice it. Happy camper.
Then a couple years later right eye vision falls off, Dr says posterior capsular opacification a clouding of the capsule that holds the lens. A bout 25% of people who get cataract surgery have this happen. Simple YAG laser out patient deal. Numbing drop in eye. Stick a weird lens on eye. Place chin on rest and forehead on strap. Bright light, then red dots. Done in under a minute. Everything in that eye dark for a second then wow all clear again.
While back left eye blurry. Just got back from getting it done by Yag laser. Everything clear as a bell again.
I paid for my Lasik out of pocket. The VA has paid for all my cataract surgeries. I have nothing but good things to say about the health care I have received from the VA. Sometimes for minor stuff it might take a little while to get an appointment, but, I have received top notch treatment.
You got to love modern medicine.
