Had this happen just once too many as of today.

The front sight is nice & visible, has a short plastic tube glued to a metal blade, which is the 'slide in from the side' Millet-slot type, from what I've been told.

The top of the metal sight blade, has been milled to semi-concave, so the fiber rod nestles in it front to rear. The problem is, it is exposed to the slings & arrows of outrageous fortune....

Cased and loaded this AM on the way to the match. Retrieve it at range, and the fiber rod is gone.

HiViz doesn't have replacement of this style. I haven't been able to find any supplier with a replacement. I'm tired of gluing in rods that come loose.

There is no screw or pin holding sight to barrel, just a cross-slot back from the muzzle a ways. S&W says they don't have a ready fix, but to send it to them & they'll do what they can....

Ditch the hi viz sight and get a blade, you could paint it if you wanted too.....not sure if thats what you are seeking, but it wouldn't come apart on you thats for sure.
