I can't shoot my new model 27. From June 1982.

It's been fired - if you look closely you can see. While it is a beautiful example, you might as well enjoy shooting it also.

If you were married to Cindy Crawford or some beautiful model would you just leave her in the box to drool over or "take her to the Range" to shoot???

OK, let's get this straight...

If you don't shoot it, then all you'll be doing is saving it for someone who comes after you (how long do you plan to live?) to enjoy the pleasure.

Don't be a custodian of someone else's pleasure. Go shoot it and put some normal wear on it. At some point, the case will fall apart through age, and storing it in that display box will allow some rust pitting to begin. Then where will you be?

Go shoot it. Now. ;)

Very nice 27, but don't over think it, that gun has been shot (not much, but it's been shot...). If you want to shoot it, shoot it. If you use care, and don't over do it, that 27 will still look great after you're done...

That is a real beauty of a 27 but it has a turn ring and a little shooting certainly will not ruin the gun. It was made to shoot so enjoy the whole package. If it were mine I would have already shot it.

It's not you "can't" shoot it, it's that you "won't" shoot it :).

It has six burn marks on the front cylinder face, and I bet there is firing residue between the forcing cone and top strap...resist if you can...

If it's already been shot, I don't see any harm in putting a few more rounds down the pipe.
If it was NIB, that might be a different story.

What a beautiful revolver. The model 27 with the 4 inch pinned barrel is about as awesome as a gun can get.

As for shooting it: I would not only be shooting it (with moderate loads), I'd also be CARRYING THAT in a nice clean holster!!

Just my own philosophy on gun collecting :)

I can't remember a single time that I took one of my guns out to the range, and came back home with it, cleaned it, and thought I had somehow "soiled" it. I mean, really now, how much can you devalue a gun that's already been shot, by shooting it? Allen might be playing a little with us.
