I fanally drank the M&P Shield 9mm Kool Aid!

Tells me nothing about the Mag guts + 2. ???

I bought one Shield 9mm Mag Guts "cup and spring" units so I have 9 rds in one my 8 rd mags . I haven't purchased the extension to add another round . So far so good . Curious about the z springs as all the feed back I have seen has been with the older system .

yup I have 2 mags with them . No problems with either one, about 500 rounds through each mag so far. (I use them in the 8 rounders, I also have a magguts spring in one of my 7 round mags to add one round to that one too)

I have the pachmyr sleeve on my shield too, I found it has made a huge difference in my accuracyCongrats. I have a feeling you don't need advice from me on loads, holsters or cleaning.
All I would tell you is to get a mag loader and a pinkie extension for the seven round mags.

No sh*t! Being retired LEO, I am exempt from the mag ban, but it is really stupid to limit people, especially those who have legally owned them for years! An background checks on ammo sales, and no internet ammo sales? What a load of cr@pola!
I seemed to have missed the portion of a retired LEO being exempt from the mag ban. Would you mind clarifying?

Three years ago I was presented a Shield 9mm as a retirement gift from my troops. Have the Pachmyer grip sleeve and carry in a Wild Bill's Concealment fusion paddle holster. Used the fusion when working to carry a Glock 23. (Carried a Model 10 early in my LEO career so partial to S&W)

The new law has a clause that specifies that the 10 round limit does not apply to active law enforcement or retired law enforcement. I am having trouble finding the text, though, Everything has been withdrawn since the FPC lawsuit forced DOJ to withdraw the regs they tried to push through as "emergency rules without public comment.
DOJ has purposely not publicized mush information on the new laws, unlike the first ban where it specified the media campaign they had to follow. Probably only 5% of the public knows what the new laws are, and only 20% EVEN KNOW THERE ARE NEW LAWS.

Sounds like a good plan, especially since the Shield manual explicitly recommends against using +P+ ammo. Limited use of +P is fine. Absolutely love my Shield 9, it has become my EDC.

Counted, and I actually have 550 rounds of Gold dot 124 +P. 250 rounds are 2015 production, the others are about 8 years old. It was our duty load on the SO for awhile, and IIRC, NYPD has issued it for years for their Glock 19s.

Went through several other brands before coming upon these. Rides high for good concealment under jacket, sweatshirt, sweater vest, etc. and is very easy on and off.

My M&P Shield 9mm is my EDC. I load it with Liberty Civil Defense rounds. Check out their videos at Liberty Ammunition Lead Free Ammo | Liberty Ammunition. Awesome, low recoil round! Plus the Shield handles recoil well as it is, so this combo works really well.

The Kool Aid can be very tasty if not doctored up by a psychopath. Not a good expression for buying a Shield. More like 'jumping on the bandwagon' or "joining the crowd" or "taking the leap".

Well, I picked up my Shield out of 10 day DROS jail today. Went to a local indoor range, and fired 100 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 124 +P (345 ft lbs ME from a Shield) from all eight magazines, including 4 with Magguts +2 kits (two 7s and two 8s). ZERO malfunctions and was dead on POA/POI at 7 and 10 yards. I was able to keep all rounds in the 10 ring and center head on a B27 silhouette target, firing off hand with a modified Weaver stance, with no difficulty.
The trigger is a little different from my Glock 19, but very manageable, especially if you use the pad of your trigger finger.
I really like the Magguts kits. They are a bit pricey, but the 7 rounder with it on is much shorter than a factory 8 rounder, and holds nine rounds. That gives me 9+1 in the holster. I have the 8 rounders with the kits (now 10 rounders) loaded up, and put one in each car glove box. The othe 7 rounder with the +2 is in my brief case.
Man, I really love this little guy! The bonus is that it is a small and light as my Bersa FireStorm (8+1) .380, and smaller and lighter than my CZ83 (13+1) .380. Easy shooting, and very controllable for a 19 oz. compact 9mm.
