After the Sandy Hook shooting my best friend's wife said she'd be OK with new laws that allow law enforcement to lock people up for something they might do. Years ago she told me that the only people who should have guns are the military, police and criminals. I'm serious. How do have a conversation with people who think like that?

The difference with this subject is that unlike people who like sports versus me, I've never run into a sports fan who wanted to MAKE me watch basketball at gunpoint.Why do we become so upset with people who disagree with us?. There are two things we can't do anything about, the weather and other peoples opinions. What to do? Speak the truth as we see it and move on. If I got upset at everyone with a different view than mine I'd be on meds 24/7. Take a deep breath and let it go. It's not our job to enlighten the world and have it conform to our view.
Anti-gunners are almost NEVER content to just not own guns. They want YOU to not own guns or defend yourself, and are more than willing to send people with guns after you to make sure you don't.
It's the difference between a Muslim who doesn't drink and a Muslim with the trunk of his car packed with C4 driving into a bar full of people to prevent YOU from drinking, EVER.

y plan of action like someone else mentioned--is to stay away from facebook. I did create an account there around 10 years ago, cruised through the site awhile trying to figger out what was so special about it? I was told it was a good way to find long lost friends. I looked for several and saw none anywhere. I logged off and never went back. And besides--I have no idea what name I used let alone the password.
Anyway--back on topic. I stay away from anti gunners like the Plague. The only time I have any interaction from one is when they see me looking at guns or something related, and only if I feel they are sincere for an answer, will they actually get one from me.

I dont care if someone doesnt want to own a gun but like you say, some politicans dont want me to have a big gulp or salt and do force that where and when they have the power. Where do we draw the line and say ---- you? When they want to kill me?

I prefer to avoid it. It's presence and my hypertension do not mix well.
It wasn't the disagreement that bothered me so much as it was that poster A is was the one that brought up guns in the first place then somehow acted like I hijacked the discussion when I responded.
Here is an example of what I'm talking about from a different incident. Several years back I'm working in a machine shop and my supervisor walks over and makes an adjustment to the machine I'm running. I saw him do it and said "Hey that will make the machine crash" he told me I didn't know what I was talking about and hit the go button. The machine (A Mori Seki Mill) promptly did exactly what I said it was going to do (crashed) and he turned around and said "Damn Smoke you just have the Midas touch don't you?" (IOW he blamed me for his screw up even though I warned him it was going to happen beforehand).
That's what upset me

Why is being a member of Facebook a mistake? I find it a great way to stay in touch with family and friends who live all over the country. (and YES they are people who I have met face to face).
I find this constant hate of Facebook because of some annoying stereotypes to be irritating. While I will not get into "arguments" on Facebook, I have had many constructive and CIVIL discussions and shared a ton of photos and jokes also.
Any social media outlet such as Facebook or Twitter is what YOU make of it.

I am on Facebook to keep track of family and highschool friends plus a few others who live a long way away. I did "like" some gun related entities, but I actually got tired of seeing their posts all the time. Other than the fact that you lose a bit of privacy on Facebook I see it as a generally good thing. My granddaughter, my cousin and my brother have had their facebook accounts hacked and posts appear they would never make.
Smoke, I would bet a dollar to a doughnut that had you posted in agreement with poster A there would have been no fuss at all.

I spent 35 years working security. My wife is far more security conscious than me. She is on my butt all the time for posting on these gun sites. I have nothing to hide, am not rich, not on the run, owe nobody, dont think any old girl friends are looking for me and not much to lose. Yet she seems to think someone is going to read my thousands of posts and put my lifes history together and maybe blackbail, kidnap us, or force me to make hits I guess. I admit I am probley too open but I am what I am and frankly my dear, I dont give a hoot.

I have a Twitter account that I used ONCE to mock "actress" Marg Helgenberger for a tweet which verged on being a threat to gun owners. I invited her to carry it out. She passed.
