Yesterday I went to a local gun shop and they had a S&W 645. I had one years ago and regretted selling it. The asking price is $499.00. The problem is that I can't get back there till Friday the 22nd to see if i can get it put away for a few days till my permit to buy is renewed. IF I can do this I'll be sure to let everyone know and take pics.

I think that the 645 is one of the real "sleeper" guns from Smith. I have one that was redone by Wayne Novak, he put a 4516 upper on it so I have a twofer. Add the good Novak sights, and an action job and it might be THE 45 ACP.

I purchased a new 645 from an old dealers stock without box but with 5 new magazines for $500 a year ago. My 645 has been a flawless performer handling all my handloads including light loads of 185 gr. LSWCHP (ca 720 fps) without any feeding failures. At the $500 range I believe it's a real bargain for an all steel handgun. I don't believe you could manufacture such a quality gun for a reasonable price in this day and age.

I had one in the early 90s and it was a very accurate gun. I hated to sell it but needed money for a bill.get it if you can.

Well Today turned out to be one very lucky day. After five days the S&W 645 was still there on the shelf. I just missed out on seeing another person walk out with it. The price was $499 still and the guy behind the counter couldn't go lower since he was just a salesman and the manager of the store had to give the ok to lower the price.

I alos got a Para Ord P13-45 new for $699. I'm hoping that its not going to be a lemon but we will see after it goes to the range.

Today I took my S&W 645 to the range. It came with two mags when I picked it up so i got lucky there since I was told there was only the one. It ran like a champ. I only used a few drops of Breakfree CLP on the slide and ran 100 + rounds in her. Nothing went wrong and I'm glad I have it. If I need to she's going to be my carry gun for work.

Congradulations. You got a good one there.
I have had one for years, and it is still one of my favorites.
