I Have High Standards

tabs,
I have the same package as your HD Military (box, papers, etc.) only mine is in 4 1/2". My brother-in-law bought it in Spokane, WA in 1946 right after he mustered out of the Army after WW2. The price penciled on the end of the box is $46.00.

BTW, are those Ropers on your HE and the Olympic?? Nice!!!

They are standard factory grips for those models..only the HD has a different style.

I have several of the later HS's but these are my favorites.

Don't forget about this type of High Standard. Double nine with nine shot capacity. Thousands of rounds through it. Horrible DA trigger but single action is no too bad.

There's this flavor, too. Sentinel MK II .357 with fixed sights, made for HS by Dan Wesson.

Here's it's Dan Wesson Model 14 cousin on the left.

I like em too.
Two HD militaries and a WW2 Model B-US.

They are standard factory grips for those models

tabs,
I'm impressed with those grips. I don't know I've seen them before. Anyway, I did a little research on them and I wouldn't call them factory "standard", rather factory special order.:D The owners manual/parts list I found show them as costing $8.50 while the regular plastic ones were only $2.00. (Parts list dated 6-52)

I have Mom and Dad's his-n-hers Supermatics. Great shooting guns. I should try to get a picture.

If you like High Standards, you might pick up a copy of the current issue of Small Arms Review. November 2009 Volume 13 number 2.

Has an interesting article on the High Standard guns of WWII. Some information on Carl Gustave Swebilius and the origins of the company.

On the Mdl's HE, GE and GO they were standard grips as they were the deeelux guns from HS in their day.

I started serious pistol shooting in the early 1950s with a High Standard Supermatic S-101, the kind with the two oblong ports on either side of the front sight. Traded it for a S&W 41 about 1959. Still have the 41, 4 digit SN. Finally found another one of the Supermatics, weights and all. That one's a keeper too.

My dad has one just like it, bought in the mid 60's. Great little shooter. Wish someone would bring them back out.
My Uncle bought one at the same time, killed a flying quail with it on a dare/bet. Pure luck. His was left in a car and never returned. Dad still has his.

Double-Nine

My double nine is pretty accurate in single action but the SportKing does better.......at least for me
