I inherited a 10-5 with a 4" Barrel

Pray it is a square butt. Ha Ha. Ok. you are making me feel really old since 1970 is the year I started buying guns.

I wonder what it looks like after all these years with no maintenance. Can't someone in the family check it out? Looking forward to it.

Great point. It will need a good cleaning and lubrication. Of course under the Packmayr grips, hopefully no moisture because it will leave it very rusty.

It has finally made it home. I took the Pachmayr grip off and surprisingly, everything is in really good condition. It is a square butt frame and the recent Herrett stocks that I picked up with the brass base add some beautiful contrast to this dark blue.

Looks like it was really babied! Enjoy your inheritance!

Boy y'all have some 10-5s that make mine look like it came from a sunken ship...well maybe not THAT bad Congrats on a neat inheritance...Nice Stocks too

I opted for a letter since the gun is a family piece.

I decided to tear the whole thing down, run it through the sonic cleaner, then the heater oven to remove any trace of moisture and then reassembly; getting it greased and oiled properly before its first outing.

Well, the letter arrived today and it says that this single pistol was shipped to a sporting goods store in California in 1970. About 5 hours from where my grandfather lived so its possible that he bought it, possibly on business trip at the time? who knows

A pistol is a pistol and a revolver is a revolver and never the twain shall meet.
