I am in the market for a 45 acp so far i like the 1911 sig scorpion or M&P 45 tan two tones.
1911 what i like the trigger very smooth.
M&P ease to take care clean etc...
How can i get the 1911 trigger on a M&P?
Is that possible?

If it was possible I'd take two. I love my m&p's but nothing beats a 1911 in my book. It is the .45 handgun, probably always will be. Browning got it right over a hundred years ago and still nothing has even challenged for the crown.

As much as I love my newly acquired M&P45, I have to say that my 1911s are my favorite 45s. My vote goes to the 1911.

You can get close to a 1911 trigger feel with an Apex Forward Set Sear trigger kit on the M&P.

IMO, no M&P will ever approach the trigger of a well-tuned 1911, even with the aftermarket kits. They are different trigger mechanisms, and a 1911 is hammer fired, while the M&P is striker fired.

If your primary concern is a light, smooth, and short trigger pull, a 1911 is your pistol. The M&P triggers are not bad at all, IMO, but they aren't really close to a 1911, nor can they be. A M&P is a good, reliable shooter and a great carry gun. A 1911 is a beauty of a pistol for all purposes except carry (IMO.) While many people certainly do carry them, I find them too heavy.

I have a Sig Scorpion and absolutely love it. The flat trigger is fantastic and it shoots smooth and accurate. The G10 grips are nice as well.

Go with the Scorpion, you won't regret it

Well, you can almost buy 2 M&Ps for the price of the Scorpion.

Having said that, loving my 2 M&Ps, but also having a SIG SP2022 and a RIA 1911 tactical.....

I say SIG!!

Ok. Here we go. 1911's are great. Love them for .45's. But, they are expensive, IF you want a good and accurate one. Who doesn't? Personally, I am done with expensive guns. Had my fill. If I wanted to go with a .45, I'd go M&P., personally

I am a .45 guy. The US Army did that to me in 1967. My current range gun is a Sig C3 (4.2" 1911), 776 rounds with 1 (one) stovepipe.

I am trying hard to settle in with a Shield 9 as a carry gun, but it just left this afternoon on the third trip to the homeland. Maybe they will make it functional.

I have a scheme - 200 rounds of US factory ammo with no failures of any sort, and it can be put in the rotation. It took Kimber two trips back, but they finally nailed their problem. A Ruger SR45 got sold off because they could not meet the criteria after the fourth "intervention".

The shield will work or be scrapped with this trip.

My service .45 (Remington 1943 production, went in on Normandy) has never failed. Never. But it is a safe queen, not a carry gun.

The C3 is close to perfect. I trust it.

Carry choice? Pretty clear.

Actually, you can buy a RIA 1911 for the same or less money than you can a M&P 45...depending on the model...and RIAs are darn good shooters. They aren't as pretty as the more expensive brands, but they are good, solid pistols.

I will second this!

I will add a third to this ^^^ - and add I am not as pretty as the expensive ones, too.

Don't know if they make the APEX for the 45 MP
I have it on my MP9C
I own a Ruger SR1911 and the APEX in the MP9C is "really" close and actually my 79 year old wife dry firing both picked the Apex over the SR1911

They do. I have it on mine.

Good to know. Thanks. :)

I continue to really enjoyed my M&P's. However I just picked up the Sig 1911 Tacpac buy one get a Sig 1911-22 for free. Shooting the 45acp 1911 is a whole different experience, and man it is fun!

A RIA is on my list.....seem like decent quality for the $$

I just added a 1911 to my collection. I got a springfield armory stainless loaded 1911. I got it on a gun broker auction for $720...that's a pretty darn good price. My local shop wanted $1099 for the same gun.

Thank you all, after few trips this past Saturday to some of the local gun shops and checked some RIA and 45 M&P although is it not on the color I wanted in going with the M&P FS 45 But, i will definitely save some mula to get 1911 in my collection. 1911 are just to damn beautiful to not have one.

I have a '43 Remington Rand that makes pretty regular trips to the range. I guess I've fired close to 1000 rounds through it by now...and like yours, it's never failed. I have the original Keyes stocks put away for safekeeping, so I just stuck some cheapo wood ones on there. It's kind of an impressive and intimidating looking old gun because of the finish loss. I wouldn't hesitate to use it for self defense.

You are NOT going to get a 1911 trigger on an M&P.

If you want a 1911 trigger, buy a 1911.

As much as I love the M&P line, it is not and never will be a 1911. That's like trying to turn an Isuzu Trooper into a Cadillac Escalade...ain't gonna happen.
