I love 45 ACP in revolvers..Anyone else?

Here's some:

445s.jpg

1937, refinished when i got it, looks like it needed it
1917 with a lot of interesting history, still working up the history
"Model of 1955", aka 25-2, about unfired, but I can't prove it, came with the box and part of the accessories, but not all
"Model of 1989", aka 625-3, shot a lot and I intend to keep on doing so, a favorite shooter

thanks

I like them fine, just do not like the way the bullet pulls in the unfired rnds in the cylinder.

For those of you with experience owning/shooting 325 NG's, any comments on the revo? Will accept .45AR ok? What frame size are these guns? Does Crimson Trace make a grip for it? I'm thinking of downsizing from my 625-8 4" to a shorter barrel in .45ACP.

unfluted mountain gun

The 625-6 got an unfluted cylinder.

Stainless N frame family portrait, 2 in there in 45 a.c.p. and 2 in 45 Colt

I have a 625-8 with a 5" bbl I wish it was 4 but this is what I have. After years of "chasing" after fired 45 acp brass it is a pleasure to load and unload the little wheel.

I have never owned a 45 revolver. I see in most of the pictures there are moon clips. Are they manditory for the gun to function. If so are they hard to load and unload?
Thanks

Man I have a 686 that I am going to send out to have set up for moon clips, they are much easier then speed loaders and carry well in pockets. I would not own a S&W that was not a moon clip gun.

What grips are on your Model 625?

Here's mine. Y'all probably get tired of looking at it since I this picture every time there is one of these threads...

I really like the grips on this picture of your model 625. Coould you tell me the brand? Thank you,

Rick

Here is a (crappy) pic of my first "real" Smith & Wesson revolver: a Model 22-4 wearing Ahrend Retro Target grips. Now if the weather would cooperate so I could actually get out and shoot the darn thing...

The only thing that keeps the 45 ACP from being my favorite revolver cartridge is the 44 Special. Those two are in a tie for status of "favorite". These three are probably my favorites in the ACP chambering.

The oldest is this much modified '17 made in 1918:

Next would be this 1956 vintage Model of 1955, cut down to my favorite barrel length of 5":

Last of the favorite 45s is this one of a kind blue 45 ACP "Mountain Gun", a round butted M25-2 fitted with a 1950 tapered barrel:

Since the mountains I am likely to be in are close to the border, where armed intruders are more of a problem than black bears or mountain lions, calling this one a "Mountain Gun" doesn't bother me a bit.
