I have never owned a 45 revolver. I see in most of the pictures there are moon clips. Are they manditory for the gun to function. If so are they hard to load and unload?
Thanks

Man I have a 686 that I am going to send out to have set up for moon clips, they are much easier then speed loaders and carry well in pockets. I would not own a S&W that was not a moon clip gun.

What grips are on your Model 625?

Here's mine. Y'all probably get tired of looking at it since I this picture every time there is one of these threads...

I really like the grips on this picture of your model 625. Coould you tell me the brand? Thank you,

Rick

Here is a (crappy) pic of my first "real" Smith & Wesson revolver: a Model 22-4 wearing Ahrend Retro Target grips. Now if the weather would cooperate so I could actually get out and shoot the darn thing...

The only thing that keeps the 45 ACP from being my favorite revolver cartridge is the 44 Special. Those two are in a tie for status of "favorite". These three are probably my favorites in the ACP chambering.

The oldest is this much modified '17 made in 1918:

Next would be this 1956 vintage Model of 1955, cut down to my favorite barrel length of 5":

Last of the favorite 45s is this one of a kind blue 45 ACP "Mountain Gun", a round butted M25-2 fitted with a 1950 tapered barrel:

Since the mountains I am likely to be in are close to the border, where armed intruders are more of a problem than black bears or mountain lions, calling this one a "Mountain Gun" doesn't bother me a bit.

Since this old thread is back I'll post my old .45ACP revolver. It's been posted before in other parts of the forum but I like to show it off.
It's a cut down 1917 Brazilian, the work was done a long time ago, don't know who did it.

I love those cut down 1917's. I am looking for a beater 1917 right now to have the conversion done. Thanks for the pics.
