I lowered my A1C. :)

I was labeled type 2 12 years go with an A1C of 6.0. The PA put me on ACTOS and I was getting A1C checks 5.6 to 5.8 and could not loose weight.
Moved to Las Vegas DR. here told me to quit taking ACTOS and I watched diet closer and exercised more been getting A1C checks 5.4.
One of the side effects of ACTOS is water retention.
I have lost 26 pounds in last 2 1/2 years.

That's surprising to me, Toyman. I was told, for years, that 7.0 and up was diabetic and that they just recently lowered the number to 6.5. Apparently, it depends on who you talk to.

The PA I was seeing was overly aggressive and did not give me a chance to lower the 6.0 before putting the label of Type 2 into my file. My current DR. read my charts and decided to give me the chance to lower A1C, which I did.
Recently restructured a like insurance policy and the person that took blood wrote a note stating she thought original type 2 was a bad diagnosis. My A1C for the life insurance company was 5.4 and they must have agreed and gave me preferred rate.

The results came in the mail today. 5.7!!!!!!!! :)

youre still a little over the norm...keep up the diet ... watch those carbs n sweets........its a change in life style that lasts a long time.......dont focus too much on the numbers

Just like you I dropped 30 lbs and a1c dropped. Daughter was getting married wanted to look good. Took a while but have kept it off.

Get a carb counter app for your phone and stick to your number. Really helps keep it off. Congrats and good luck.

I am on one 500 M Metformin per day and it seems to be working for me so far. Congrats and keep going. Don't know what range your Dr. is shooting for but, you are headed in the right direction.

Those are some excellent results. I went through the same when I was diagnosed Type 2. Although the treadmill we have here(manual one) is nice I love the bike and rower we have. I love the bike because you can rest your rear end and the one here has a rowing feature on the handlebars where you row and lift yourself so you also get that workout at the same time. What helped me a lot is having fans situated so you can stay pretty cool when exercising and a TV or PC set up with TV shows or movies to view when working out.

I read on the treadmill. I've read more books in the past 15 years than the previous 50. All right wing political and true war stories. No fiction. I'm thinking about having a yard sale
