Well, I guess this is what you call jumping in with both feet. 
I started shooting handguns about four months ago, having never shot one before, and got my start with a S&W M66 that a friend used as his duty weapon. I took to it right away and decided that my first gun would be a S&W of some sort in .357 Magnum.
I asked a local shop that I now frequent to order this S&W 627 Performance Center revolver for me, and I picked it up just three days ago. I can't wait to get it to the range and put it through its motions for the first time. I'll provide a report here when the time comes.
Needless to say, I've handled it extensively since its arrival. The fit and finish are first rate all around. It's a substantial gun, but I haven't found it to be too much of a handful. The double-action pull is extremely smooth.
