I bought a new mower last month.
The price was competitive and they offered a $50 credit an a 5% reward if I applied for their credit card. Which I did intending to pay it off when the bill came.
The other night I received an email saying my credit card payment due date was coming.
There was a link to see my account activity. Which I clicked to make sure I got the $50 credit, and it wanted my SS#
Wait a minute.
Why would they need my SS# instead of my account #?
I think they were phishing and nearly caught a big fat bass.
I forgot to add that the last four digits that the email referred to did not match any of my cards and when I called the CC company the email was supposedly from, they showed I had no credit card balance with them.

It absolutely was a scam. Never, ever, EVER click on links in emails like this! It is entirely possible that, simply by clicking on the link, you downloaded some variety of virus to your computer.

If you think the email is legitimate, go directly to the website for the company and check there. All of these credit card and financial companies have a secure message page on their websites where you can check this kind of thing.

Also, depending on your email program there will be an option to "view message source". Most of the result will be unintelligible gibberish but somewhere there will be the address of the sender which will give it away. Years ago I got a couple of emails from the Canada Revenue Agency, which was pretty suspicious. When I looked at the message source, the sender's address ended in ".br" I was pretty sure the CRA didn't have an office in Brazil! On the rare occasion I get an email from them now, I have to log in to my CRA account, which I do directly from my browser, not from a link in the email.

As PT Barnum allegedly said, "There's a sucker born every minute."

A year or so local shop had an 81 in .32 that came with 2 boxes of brass or ammo IIRC. I think they were asking $850. For all I know it may still be there.
