I thought I wouldn't do it but I did. Went all M&P.

My workplace is at the 1/2 way point to the range. I had to work until noon today, so I thought I might as well go to the range.

As I packed my range bag, I just instinctively packed the M&P 9 and M&P 22. I paused. I never do that. I usually deliberate on what to bring to the range.

The range session was uneventful. In my hands the M&P holds a 2" group at 25ft. Because the M&P's are a perfect fit, shooting was instinctual and natural.

Up until about 4 hours ago, I was hesitant to sell my other 9mm's. One always did something better than the other. This day reinforced that the M&P is the semi-auto for me.

I just finished selling my other 9mm's to friends. Gone are:

  • Glock 19 Gen4
  • Glock 17 Gen4
  • Beretta 92fs

I also sold a Ruger LCR .357. I like the little snubbie, but it doesn't fit any purpose for me. There's no advantage in it for me.

With a fist-full of cash, I went to the LGS. I figured I'd find something I want. I handled every semi-auto that was on my "list". None of them felt right compared to my M&P 9, so I walked out empty handed.

9mm is my preferred caliber. I now only have one semi-auto pistol chambered in 9mm. I have only one handgun I prefer to use for home defense. I have other semi-auto pistols: a few .22lr, a LCP, and a SR1911. I use these for range fun only.

I thought I'd feel bad about the sell off, but I don't. I actually feel better.

good for you. I always worry that I will feel bad when I sell off a gun. But cost wise I need to sell what I do not shoot or like to buy what I want. I too ended up with M&P, 9 FS, 9c and 45c...Great guns.

Thanks for the replies.

I used to enjoy going to the LGS to handle other 9mm pistols. No single 9mm did everything right for me, so I had a buy list. Glocks, Beretta, Sig, CZ, etc. For some reason, I figured the M&P 9 wasn't much different from a Glock. Until I shot a range acquaintance's, I had no idea what I was missing.

I love/hate the M&P9. I love it because it's perfect for me. I hate it because it's perfect for me.

Now that I have the M&P9, it's very hard for me to justify purchasing a different 9mm semi-auto. It's taken the fun out of browsing at the LGS.

You're just gonna have to modify your search field! :D

Start looking at older "M&P" revolvers. That'll help get rid of all that nasty "extra" cash you got in your pocket!

So true. So very, very true. ;)

Maybe time for an M&P15. Once you start down that AR road you won't have to worry about what to do with extra cash.

I'm already there. :D

The 15-22 led to the 15-Sport. Because of both of their stellar performance, I gave the M&P 9fs a try.

I haven't gone all M&P, but close: M&P9, M&P9c CrimsonTrace, M&P9 LEO, M&P 15-22, M&P Victory model..... still looking for an M&P lower to replace the CMMG I have, then all my regular guns will be M&P's!

I to traded off my Glocks and now the only polymer gun I own is a M&P 9. The funny thing is I was a huge Glock fanboy at one time but once I shot my M&P the Glocks never felt right.
