I too discovered a significant Shield issue!

I've just recently returned to this Forum after a multiple year hiatus while moderating on another firearm forum. Threads like this one force me to question the wisdom of that decision.

I'm a member of few other forums. the biggest challenge on every forum is to... challenge a moderator's opinion... :)

Ahhh... You all need to lighten up. I thought it was a funny thread, and a nice counterbalance to many of the one hit wonders that come here, report an issue (or what they perceived to be an issue), and then are never heard from again.., Many of them only have like a 1-5 post count max, and never come back to let us know if our suggestions worked, let us know if it was something they were doing wrong, or let us know if the pistol was the issue. Would have had been a good & fun thread if everyone wasn't so uptight.

It could be that people do not return due to the reaction facing anyone casting any aspersion toward an S&W product.

Then again, it could be people simply wanting to stir things up.

However, personally, I think that it is the former. Sometimes people do not always approach airing what they feel is a problem in the right way, but some of these threads have a way of discouraging even the most thick skinned people from ever returning.

Then all manufacturing specific gun forums would be empty especial Glock's. I also in my time here have not found people to be discouraging here. 99.99% of the time, forum member offer up suggestions and try and help. Even if they bicker with each other over the solution, they rarely outright attack new comers to the forum.

I have to disagree with your assessment. But, no it is not any different than most any other manufacturer specific forum. People, in general, forget that they were new once, too.

Even with a few rough spots here and there, this is an excellent forum. There is an amazing amount of knowledge held by many members that are usually eager and downright happy to share most of it. Seems like the newer people need to hold back a bit until they see that this forum isn't plagued with keyboard commandos like many others are. JM.02

My 2 cents,,, It might have to do with the approach.

I've been on here long enough to have seen many many posts regarding: 'Just noticed a crack in my revolver frame.', or all my shots are going low left ,, etc.. etc..

Repeat questions / problems that I've usually seen answered politely, sometimes with a little humor injected.

But when someone has a 'call to arms' ,, 'defect of titanic proportions', 'worldwide recall ,' etc.. over a perceived problem, that may or may not really be a problem.
Well they may not always get the answer or response they are looking for..

Some of us must approach Forums in totally different agendas. When I joined, the 1st thing I did was literally scan the most recent couple Months of subject lines to see if my question is (or has) already being discussed and jump into those, rather than 'blindly' asking what end up being a FAQ.

If scanning doesn't work, since many Subject lines don't describe the true topic (or the inevitable thread drift occurs), I try the Search function. I've belonged to enough different forums where I can usually figure out a basic search. In the 2+ years I've been here, I doubt if I've actually Started even 10 threads [Edit: I just checked... I've only 'Started' 2 threads] , where others post a new 'Issue' every week (or every other Day). LOL

Anyway... It's GOOD to see a Fun (if not Satirical) thread once in a while. As the Joker said in 'The Dark Knight'... "Why... So... Serious?". :D

Seriously dude? You need to create a parody thready, to make fun of my genuine attempt at looking out for people, to get yourself off? Ha bunch of ****ing children on here.

I apologize for posting. Trust me it won't happen again.

You are welcome to go somewhere else if we upset you.

I went back to reread his original thread and I didn't see anything that should have gotten him so pissy to begin with. I don't know if the 4th post being a little critical and challenging him on his "discovery" sent him over the edge or the tongue in cheek humor. It's hard to tell because it looks like he went back and edited his original posts after he saw this thread and got his feelings hurt.

If slightly sarcastic comments can get somebody that upset then I'm not sure I can help them. I'm dammed sure not going to tippy toe around their feelings.

I was thinking the OP and others were being too sensitive, but how ever some want to try to attempt to justify and down play it, some people in the were attacking him and were out right rude plain and simple.

He was new to the forum, tried to post what he thought was a problem to try and help others, and it seems that some were dismissive, rude, and extremely condescending.

You guys think this forum is bad...for those people who own multiple brands try GlockTalk.com, its so bad their they track down your IP address and come knocking on your door...just kidding, however they do have a few posters that like to rip on people to prove their point...this forum is just little more civil and user friendly from my point of view...

agreed, some people here shouldn't even be allow to own guns.

I sincerely believe this is a good forum website and appreciate the time other posters take to put up cogent and informative information for all of us.

I visit one other forum on the web and the content is nowhere near as comprehensive, entertaining, or useful as this one is, which I believe shows user's dedication and interest here.

There is occasional flame war here, but I actually like the back-and-forth banter and bickering when it happens. I even got into one myself a while back and realized what I posted was incorrect and felt quite humbled and embarrassed. Oh well, c'est la vie.
