You bet your rear end I did...

Fellow forum member and his son, found this Smith/Wesson 38/44 Heavy Duty, marked "Austin PD 100" at the last Tulsa show.
We shared some tables together at last weekends show in San Antonio, and we worked out a trade.

Quick story, my long time gun show partner who is no longer with us had a rule. Never, ever, do an equal trade! Always get a little extra. It could be a $20 dollar bill, I watched him once take a mans hat off his head, another time I watch as he took a mans belt buckle. Me...on this even trade...I got 2 rings of dried sausage thrown in...Thanks Randy for the trade, and thanks Scott for the sausage...

I was checking out the Jovinos in that other thread. You two guys both did great for each other, though I'd go with the Jovino. Not because of value but personal use. The APD guns are spectacular guns that I've never seen in person. You guys both scored. It's great to see a couple guys who know their stuff get what they want and everything turns out even.

Both guns are great, but I'd have gone with the APD HD.
I'd love to find one that shipped in July 1963, like I did (22nd)

It sounds like you were both happy, so I'd say it was an equally good trade.

That's real nice, I'll trade you a Model 17, a microwave oven, an electric shaver and a good coon dog for it!! :)

You can have my hat too, but I've been cutting grass and I don't think you'd want it. :)

Seriously, when I see a APD HD, it reminds me of a conversation I had with Ranger Ray Martinez in Tulsa. That was the firearm that was used to stop Whitman during the UT tower shootings.

I still have all my old Jim Supica "Old Town Station" gun catalogs and in one of them is an APD Heavy Duty for under $200. Excuse me while I go out in the garage and beat myself over the head with a hammer again for not buying it back then.

Larry,

I am glad to see that the Austin gun came to roost with it's brothers.

We both knew that you would likely end up with that gun when we were looking it over in Tulsa.

The Jovino was a good trade, I think that it is helping my dad not to lust after my 25-2 Jovino ;)

We both really enjoyed the show with a lot of funny stories to share....did ya get some I-phone video of the streaker in the parking lot? It might come in handy later as blackmail material :D

I'm glad that you enjoyed the sausage, some folks don't like the chile petines, but I am an addict.....I frequently carry it out at the ranch as a snack.

July is coming quickly.....what's the next trade going to be?

Thanks Scott, we need to do more trading just so I can get some more of that dried sausage. 70% venison, 30% pork, chili pequin peppers mixed in....Delicious...

Larry,

Glad to hear that you and quinn are happy "horse traders". I've only got one of each (APD and Jovino) left but would happily take another of each because I know where there is an instantaneous buyer for them.;)
