Should be easy to find right? Well I just blew some dough believing the product description from something on Amazon. Said it was ambidextrous and holster could be oriented horizontal or vertical. Not a hope, nothing lines up if you change it around.

So I'm looking for suggestions. I'm a lefty. I like black nylon cordura, a lot less heavy than leather, and I'm not willing to hang a concealed automatic horizontal under any circumstances.

Large, full size, 4.5" barrel semi auto. No mag pouch on the other side wouldn't be a deal breaker.

I thank you all who take the time to suggest, this is an awesome forum.

You get what you pay for. With a shoulder rig you are paying for lots of vests and jackets. Galco is the best I have seen. I have a cheapo nylon and leather deal that get the job done, but I rarely carry this way. The inability to take off your jacket is quite annoying and suspicious at times. It's a complete no-go for anyplace warm or heated. You sweat. If you take off the cover garment there is a ZERO percent chance anyone will fail to notice that you are armed. The rig is highly visible when uncovered. Galco has some sweet rigs though. They have one where you can carry four mags on the side opposite the gun. Very interesting. Leather and spendy though.

I can only recommend what I have used. Bagmaster. Only vertical, or horizontal. Not switchable. Black Cordura. Says it can be used by either righties or lefties. I'm a righty, and it works for me. I carry an H&K USP. 4.4in barrel. Not expensive.

Bianchi used to make one called the Viper. Used one for many years. Had the most comfortable harness.

For what you need, I would look at the "Untouchables" model from A.E. Nelson. It is leather but will work well. It is light weight.

Andrews Custom Leather makes a good spring holster.

Cheap holsters are really not the way to go.

Years ago I picked up 2-3 used Galco and ******* "Miami Vice" style shoulder holsters........they were cool and all the 80s...LOL...... almost new and half priced.

The only time I use them are in the late fall/winter while doing out doors activities.........great for a long walk in the woods or the local county park walking the dog. But not much else ...... unless you aren't worried about "concealed carry". Barrel/slide can't be to long or it will print at the back..... mine get used with a Smith 6906 or a Sig 245.

While they seem to make sense for driving (long trips).... I prefer a cross-draw belt holster ...... if I have to get out of the car they can be more easily concealed under a un-tucked flannel or LL Bean lined shirt.

I normally carry IWB behind my right hip.....a tough place to get to a gun wearing a base layer, fleece and a winter coat ........ but these horizontal shoulder holsters allow you to unzip half way and have easy access to your gun.... and 2 spare magazines. Your closed/zipped coat helps keep the holster and gun from shifting or flopping under your arm.

For a 4" revolver I prefer a Bianchi 511X Vertical holster..... that has elastic shoulder strap and snaps to the belt.

Thanks, good suggestions so far. There are so many holster makers it's hard to wade through it all and find what you want. I don't necessarily want to cheap out but also not keen on throwing money away based on online descriptions. Bagmaster looks like what I have had in mind, The Viper in a size 5 if it could be found looks like something that would do also. I wish the Galco Miami Vice/******* rig was vertical. Horizontal is the deal breaker. I won't sweep others with the gun. My weapon is striker fired with no mechanical safety. So I just won't do it. The Nelson Untouchables, well yeah that could be pretty nice too. All of these suggestions are stuff I hadn't run across yet.

Not too worried about the conceal-ability, I'm trying to keep my pistol with me as I do physical stuff outdoors. Very likely it's covered by outerwear, but if not I'm in situations where it won't be an issue if seen. I'm not an office cube farm kind of guy. ;)

Oh and I'm already wearing suspenders, that's why I'm not trying to hang anything on my belt.

Aker is good to go as well. All leather, made in the USA for a fair price.

Barsony sells some pretty decent shoulder rigs on Amazon. The harness is leather and everything else is nylon. The holsters are gun specific and not that "universal fit" garbage. Pick a variation that suits your fancy then click "select size" and find the pistol you want to carry. Amazon.com: barsony shoulder holster

I tried Galco's Miami Classic to hold a Glock 34 and my opinion was it sucked, despite a price of $160. I ended up returning it. It leaned over to one side, the side the weight of the gun pulled it to, and this is far from the heaviest gun around.
