Discalimer: I have no qualms about this being moved--I could come to no conclusions about the proper forum.
I digress: I can't find one that melts my butter. We are not talking collector guns here---shooters.
I do know that this catagory will tell you what does not melt me.
I don't want:
A snubby
A larger caliber than a .41 mag
A K frame or I frame
I have a number of N frames that I really do like and think I want another. Maybe a M625--but I would like it in a LC. I have a couple of M28's which I like a lot anda .41 mag, .32, .45 some .357's and one converted to shoot 9x23.
I know this is some rambling but I can't determine what i want and am asking for suggestions.
Blessings

Seems you have the makings of a great collection there.

Do you have a K-22 yet? When I have the time to shoot (which is seldom these days) I go back to the K-22 I have. It's not pretty, it's older than me, 1948 by the serial number, but accurate and cheap to shoot. Just wondering?

I have a 1954 K-22. It is a shhoter as i had to have it refinished after years in a holster.
I have two 586's---a stailess might fit right in there--kinda wanted a different caliber--but--as for the .44mag--well--my old hands don't like it--though i understand your sentiment.
The 625 looks promising but I don't think I want the price of a long colt.
Hummmm !
Blessings

625

For me, nothing is more fun to shoot than a 625 in 45 acp (ammo prices not too bad either).

I guess a 625JM in .45 ACP is out as it is larger than .41 - so how about a 4" 627 Pro? Fitted with some Ahrends retro-targets in cocobolo and a HiViz .250" Classic DX style front sight, it's a great 8-shot moonclip capable .38 or .357. Fun!

PS If you could allow a K-frane suggestion... how about a 4" 617 10 shooter .22 LR? Great fun...

A 6 1/2 or 8 3/8" model 27. N frame, cheap to feed, and definitely not a snubbie! Also, long-barreled ones are surprisingly less expensive at this time than the shorter ones.

22's

I never thought I would enjoy a 6" model 48 22 WRF as much as I do and Deadly accurate until I picked up a model 46 (plain finish model 41) with 5" field barrel that is great camping and hiking gun!

Yes, I do want something---I just can't figger out what I want. What I don't want to do anymore is just buy something.
The 625 in ACP is just about as close as I have come---I still am wrestling with getting another ACP.
I have three .327s now--one in a 6 inch barrel.
I have two M28's.
I might could work in a Long Tom sumthin or other but I dunno--it would definitely be better than a snubby. I just can't wrap my mind around them--now--I have several from a number of years ago. That is a long story.
i have also been thinking about a stainless--then again I find myownself duplicating.
I am really not argueing with you boys---there are some things suggested--like the Long Toms--that are worthy of a real think.
Blessings

4" 25-5 in blue of nickel........
Great belt/woods gun.

Bound to find something.

By your guidelines, there really is only one gun I could think of that you might like.

Performance center 627.

How could anyone not love a PC Smith with 8 shots of 357?

Product: Model 627

OK, no I or K frames. How about a L frame. The M586 is a great shooter, and will handle .357 rounds all day. I would suggest that you look for a M581. It is the fixed sight version of the M586. I like the clean look of it. The stainless M681, can be difficult to find. Not an N frame, but a great Smith none the less. Just a suggestion.

You've mentioned the 625 too often. I have a pair in 45 Colt and a pair in 45 ACP.......Never happened across a bunch of 6" Model 19s. Shot a neighbor's 6 incher this summer and had to have one.......I wouldn't overlook the modified guns. I own an old pre-Model 26 in 45 ACP that sports a long Douglas barrel and shortened cylinder. It thinks it thinks it's a rifle. My most accurate 44 Special is a Model 28 that was made over to 44 Spec. back when factory 44 Specials weren't to be had. Lib'll have to sell these S&Ws I've mentioned after I've checked out.

I have a nice Model 58, Nickel, Very Clean, that is looking for a new home! I want to purchase a PC 627 and need the $ to make the deal.

OP said: "A K frame or I frame"

Did you mean a K or "L" frame? Or did you mean the smaller "I" and are you only thinking about J's, L's and N's?

Buying just to buy is a sickness, lol. Not the worst one to have mind you, but a sickness nonetheless. When I develop that frame of mind I just hit the shops and auctions and wait till something jumps out at me. Asking a knowledgeable group of guys on a forum may not be a bad way to go either

Alrighty now !
You boys have certain;y helped with the thinking and I thank you a bunch----well, fer helpin me spend my money.:)
:)
Now, what it is I have come up with is gonna require some amount of decision. The ideal gun for this project would be a .45 or .45acp---I am kinda leaning towards the .45LC but I really don't know.
The LC holds some amount of desire because I don't have one in this caliber and it is a classic. That said, as another has said, the ACP is easier to find and less expensive (ammo wise).
So here is the desire---A 4 or 5 inch in one of those calibers (or are they the same caliber --I digress). probably a Mountain Gun but being rather a newby about all of this--anything in this caliber in an "N" frame is worth considering.
What do you boys think ?
Blessings
