I was shorted !

everytime i buy a box of Winchester white box 100 count 9mm , i get a round or two extra.

i would be annoyed also about getting shorted. you deserve to receive what you paid for.

You have lead a very easy life if you can get so bent out of shape over 15 lousy rounds of ammo.

Cry a river; build a bridge; get over it.

I have lived a blessed life without a doubt. I only responded to the OP sharing my experience, I didnt start the thread. I was upset, appropriately so in my opinion, after discovering that I had been ripped off by 10%, not in 1 box but all 3. Because all the pistol ammo is kept behind the counter, I seriously doubt shoplifters could be responsible.

Had you written that originally, I wouldn't even have posted about it. That's what we call important information. ;)

I don't think anyone is mad at ya, brother. :)

I know, it really isn't a big deal, but now I'm going to want to check every purchase before I walk out with it.

Right now, how are you going to do that? The stores get like 5 bricks a day, how are you going to exchange it for something that isnt there? I think if it was me and I was missing 50 rounds out of 500 I would just deal with it considering how hard it is to get 22.

Consider it a lesson learned to check the boxes before paying.

I worked in retail for about 15 years - and despite alarm tags and mirrors placed over high theft areas - shoplifting ranged from whole products simply disappearing to contents of boxes emptied and boxes left behind.

We generally filled a box about 2 foot long, 1 foot wide and 1 foot tall with empty packages of stolen merchandise just about every week.

Even had a guy with the balls to walk up to the register with a box of Tylenol in his hand - say to the clerk that he left his wallet in the car - and set the box in front of the plastic shield around the register and walk out. She was busy with a line - and after she caught up the guy had not yet come back and when she walked around the register to put the item back on the shelf - discovered the box was empty.

Highest theft items were batteries, razor blades, cosmetics, and certain medications such as Tylenol.

One of my gals even found product with our price stickers on them at a flea market for about half the sticker price - so you know those people didn't buy them at full retail.

Also had price switchers, back in the days before bar code scanning. Caught a gal once who put a 99 cent sticker on a product that had just been put on the shelf at around $5.99.

Do you mean to tell us people aren't naturally trustworthy?

Happened to me once a few years ago when I bought some 12ga Rem STS loads. Grabbed up 6 boxes for a shoot and later found out someone skimmed a couple shells out of 3 of the boxes. I was pissed, now I check, especially shotgun shells since there is no seal.

Dishonest people irk me:mad:

I always check my ammo. Nothing like being on the trap line and the box of shells you have is 1 short.

Again, so you are at WalMart with 20 people in line, they have 4 boxes of 22, you get 2 of the last ones, do you not take one of them because they are a little short?

And wait another month till they have any in stock?

Just because?

Bet if you do that, the guy behind you will gladly buy it.

Do you all count your bulk ammo value packs? Especially the 555 round ones?

My wife manages a dollar store, and, according to her, the most shoplifted item in the store is the generic pregnancy test.

Just sayin'.

A neighbor of mine bought a box of pistol shells at an estate auction. Checked each end and thought the box was full. Got home and 15 shells were missing from the middle. Pull the tray all the way out so you can each end and the middle. Larry

Not with that intent, but I have a ton of old plastic CCI MiniMag boxes and I transfer all of my bulk 550's 525's and 555's into them just for convenience.

In recent years I would guess I've gone thru 25 or 30 bricks of Fed and WW and every single one had the count EXACTLY as desribed.

Now, otoh, almost every single box of Remington anything was missing something, had misfires or the new brass cases were split before being loaded.

With the cost of ammo nowadays, they should come in a foam lined lockable case. If China can do with cheap tools then why can't ammo manufacturers?

If it is Winchester ammunition, then certainly try to contact their customer service. I have had two issues with Winchester products, and their customer service has been great. First issue I had was with a brick of their Xpert 22 ammo, loose heads and it jammed liked crazy; second issue was with some brass--each time they sent me back a $20 Winchester coupon for Winchester products.

There is a reason stores have cameras mounted on the ceiling looking down on the registers. About 80% of shrinkage is internal. Who has the most opportunity? Customers shoplift a bit, but the real danger is the long time highly trusted indispensable employee who feels they deserve more, and nobody gets hurt because it's just a little bit at a time.

You assume that the store owner did this? I have news for ya, pal. People shoplift from gun stores all the time. That's exactly how they do it. They always take out a row of rounds then turn the tray around, OR they take a tray of 50 JHP and put it in the box for FMJ and pay the MUCH LOWER FMJ price. More than likely, some customer did it to you, not the store owner. If the store owner wanted to screw you - he wouldn't stiff you for 5 lousy rounds of ammo - he'd sell you a Bersa. :D

Ouch!! I love my Bersas!!😃
