I wouldn't go into a movie theater without my CCW.
I think every person who can legally carry a concealed carry weapon, should be carrying that CCW. All day, everyday.

Here, a CPL does not allow carry in a theatre complex that seats 2500 or more. So I had to find one that seated less than that. As fate would have it I found one close to my house...AND it serves the best popcorn in the area!

Your decision to carry a concealed firearm is not a topic for social discussion. It is unwise for anyone other than your spouse to know that you "carry" or even possess a concealed carry license. There is no such thing as a "gun problem" only a "criminal problem." HOWEVER, by entering into a debate on this topic you have inadvertently become part of the "anti-gun problem."

If they're not your wife ( or other fmily member under your protection ) , they hve no reason to know. If idiots ask ( who don't have legal authority ) , you don't have to answer them accurately. Make a generalized statement that dodges the issue, or simply use tactical disinformation. You have no obligation to tell random people how many credit cards you carry and their balances, neither is it their business what safety equipment you have.

Everyone I know, which are mostly LEO's, know I am always armed. In KS a retired officer with a LEOSA permit can carry anywhere a full time working officer can. Which is almost anywhere.

Why does anyone carry anywhere? To be prepared. Are large gatherings of people the types of places the dangerously insane target? I think the events of the last few years make it obvious that they are.

What is the alternative? Cower in fear behind closed doors? Avoid public places with large numbers of people for fear of the whack-jobs and nut cases?

Doesn't sound like much of a way to live to me. I don't go to movie theaters, mainly because the tickets are ridiculously priced. But if I do decide to go to one I'll be carrying. Just like I carry pretty much everywhere else I go that it isn't prohibited.

My Dad always said "If you tell all your business, you got no private business." I have very few people, outside close family who know I carry. My cousin and our hunting friend always talk about guns and hunting, all of us carry, and none of us talk about it in front of other people. If we are talking carry issues, holsters, handguns etc and someone walks in my office or close to our table at breakfast, the topic automatically changes to the garden, or carpentry, or bush-hogging. There's no percentage in letting anyone have any information that's none of their business. You have to listen to jackwagons and their opinion at the best or at the worst set yourself up for assault or robbery.

The best thing said is nothing, and very little about that.

I think you're missing my point the person I was responding to designated movie theaters as a high risk venue the impression I get from that is that he considers it to be where there's not only the potential but the likelihood that he'll need a gun.

IMO it's not cowardice to avoid such a place it's common sense.

If he chooses to be a potential victim, don't remove his rose colored glasses for him. If he feels that strongly about it, ignore him and move on. If he refuses to be ignored, tear him a new rearend and tell him to keep his opinions to himself. It's a right, whether he likes it or not, so he needs to tolerate it. As long as practicing your right doesn't infringe on another person's rights, he has no grounds to say anything.
