I Went Over To The Dark Side (Range Report)

You are allowed ONE, and mind you only ONE dalliance from the S&W camp. Any further discretions on your part will cause a swarm of upset forum members to descend upon your house and take you out back for a good whippin'. I had a Glock 27 and loved it. Best self defense gun in my mind, but just too much now for my aging hand strength. Enjoy your new toy you traitor!!!!!

Well, it could have been a Colt revolver :D

Glad you dig it. I think they made a HUGE mistake in the Gen-5 and that was increasing the girth from the Gen 4 in order to do that ambi slide-stop/release. However, cleary it is a valued feature for you, and that's what counts.

I too had a few Glocks, G17, G19, G20 and G21. I liked most everything about them but the grip angle and fatness.
The G20 I actually kept and carried a lot for nearly 10 years.

I had forgot about Glocks for a while but last year I got a G48.
Man, what an improvement to me, better angle grip wise.
It is way thinner than a G19 and lightweight too, and with the SA metal mags, still holds 15 +1.
The Ameriglo Tritium red ring front sight is fantastic too.

My G48 in the middle, and my friend's G19 and I think the other one is a G43.
Shooting the G48 alongside the G19, the G48 feels much better to me.

I am also a lefty and like that I could change the mag release over, and the Slimline (Glock's terminology, not mine) keeps it, well, slim.
Overall width at top of grip is 1.1 inches , but the slide width is only .87 inches.
Magazine on the left is a Shield Arms with +2 extension, so a 17 round.
The G48 and my Hellcat and my two favorites now.

I'm not sure if Glock's Slimline series will include other calibers.
It does mean reduced capacity, the G48 factory polymer mags only hold 10 rounds of 9mm, but Shield Arms stepped up with a good steel mag that gets 5 more rounds in that space.

One of my kids has a Springfield XD, while one of the lady's went from a
light Kahr PM9, to a heavier Sig 365 XL, for better control.

Another daughter went from a M&P 9 Shield, up to a new Glock 17, to see
if her shooting would improve.

Pistols are great, since they come in all shapes, forms, weights, colors, etc and you
can find one that works for you, if you can try them out.

Black is ok but I prefer the sparkly, shiny, silver look.

I went to “the dark side” about 4 years ago when I purchased my first and only “plastic” gun. After shooting a friends new Sig P365 I got one for myself. There was just no denying that the smaller, lighter, higher capacity pistol was much easier to shoot, has a trigger of less than half the pull weight, was more accurate with better sights ( night sights) and was just more shooter friendly. My trusted EDC M60-7 has since been retired for that designation. I just could no longer deny all the advantages and for an old antiquated fart like myself, that was something!

Never had a Glock, although my Pop was a fan and he was a smart man. I did recently "build" this P80 G19 sized clone and it hasnt jammed yet. I really like the P80 grip angle vice the Glock.
