A peaceful goodbye for three-war Army veteran Plumley.

A peaceful goodbye for three-war Army veteran Plumley - U.S. - Stripes

My co-worker spent a few minutes explaining why there are so few Vets with as many Combat Infantry Badge Stars as SGM Plumbley had. The qualification rules for issue changed after Vietnam.
We do have infantry soldiers that participated in Grenada, Panama, and Kuwait/Iraq. The time spent in actual combat operations is the biggest item. I am sure there are more.

Your war is over.............Be at peace with the ones you love................Thanks to you for all you've done Sir!! You can bet I'll not disgrace your efforts for this country like so many are.................

Please allow me to add my condolences to family, friends, and combat mates of this outstanding soldier.

May God assign a company of angels to guide his soul to that place reserved for those have served so well.

Absent friends.................................................

Respects,

Pat

If he was anything like the character in the movie he was a
good soldier. RIP Command Sgt. Plumlee
The things he had seen most could not comprehend.

Chuck

Here's a link with a short history of his military career, badges, and awards.
Basil Plumley (Character) - Biography

A true symbol of America's best. I'd bet he had a long conversation with Custer on combat tactics when they met. RIP command sergeant - you will be missed!

RIP Sgt. Maj. We are losing our real heroes faster and faster and they don't get replaced that often with new ones.
