If you are passionate about firearms in general and S&W firearms in particular, you should recognize the name: Dwayne Charron.

See my thread in the Lounge for the particulars.

R.I.P., Dwayne.

Thanks John... and thanks again for putting me in touch with him through his son. He was a helluva guy. He had a career with S&W that most of us could only dream of. So much of what we talk about here in this forum has his fingerprints all over it. He wrote me a nice personal note which I keep folded up in his book. He gave me his autographed book for free... and only asked that I make a contribution to the S&W Collector's Association... and yes, I did... twice what he suggested. :)

So while this is sad news, we can take comfort in the fact that he led a long, prosperous life with one heck of a great career.

Glad I could help, TTSH.

I guess it was the final time for Dwayne to "Take That Smith Home". ;)

I just keep thinking that he had an enviable life. I wish I had known him. I wish I had been "alive & awake" during his time in the S&W museum. I would have loved to have visited with him. He grew up something less than a mile as the crow flies from where I did, albeit a generation apart. Same neighborhood, different time. :) He was a member of dear old Dad's generation... the greatest generation. I had wondered if he was a member of the S&W pistol team and shot against dear old Dad, a member of the Springfield Revolver Club?

I had asked Dwayne if he knew my great uncle, a life-long employee of the mothership. He did not. Bummer. ;)

But I can't help but feel some commonality with the man. I thought we might even be related through in-laws (same last name). That was wrong too! ;)

In any case, R.I.P. Mr. Charron. Ya did good. :) A good life! :)
