Congratulations to Idaho. And I agree, it is a great state. The Sawtooths, Stanley, Couer d'Alene areas are terrific.

In Arizona ANY person allowed by law may carry concealed without a permit.
After reading parts of the bill I'm still confused as to whether this ruling will apply to all legal citizens of the U.S. or just Idahoans per this sentence "this bill would amend the existing concealed carry law to allow law-abiding Idahoans to carry a concealed firearm without the burdensome requirement of acquiring an Idaho carry permit."
Great news for the folks in Idaho in any case:0

Wyoming's Constitional Carry (permitless ccw) law is working its way through now. Past the Senate. Past the first reading in the House (48-8) one more House reading and it goes to the governor.
I believe he will sign it, but regardless it has a veto proof vote so far.

Hopefully, we'll see this momentum continue and a national trend in the making. What I want to know is, what will local / state gov'ts do without all of the revenue that they currently get from CCW permits?
You got a hope for that one.
Maybe after a few more court rullings flesh out the 'legal' meaning of the 2nd amendment.

I think in Ohio the counties, who are the ones that collect the fee, do little more than break even. Where CCW fees make money are places like Pennsylvania with their mail order out of state permits. Centre County probably has one person just processing those. Where money will be lost is all the instructors teaching CCW classes. Which is a shame because I believe most people benefit from taking those classes.

Yeah right. I forgot that gov't entities aren't allowed or required to make a "profit". Since they are "only" able to break even, I would think that's all the more reason to discontinue the permit/licensing process. I'm not mad at you, but please, don't get me started...

4th best, Vermont was first a long time ago and then Alaska did it a few years ago, and Arizona last year.

Since I'm a CHL instructor and have been for 15 years, some folks are surprised when they hear me cheer for this movement. OUTSTSTANDING, Idaho!! I often hear folks lauding the value of the classes we teach. Well, nothing I teach is a secret. The legal information is publicly available, as is the information regarding situation awareness, tactics, nonviolent dispute resolution, and all the rest. Those who pay attention will learn it themselves, and those who won't will forget it by the time they leave class. Unfortunately, once the state issues the little plastic card, they can say, "Well, the state of Texas says I'm good enough, so I must be good enough." The Second Amendment refers not just to the right to keep arms, but to BEAR them. Ought to be enough.

Sure I do...under my flannel lined Carhartts...or when I go to Arizona..or Florida...you got me.

The carrying of firearms was written into the Vermont Constitution a couple of hundred years ago. Makes life so less complicated. And our crime rate is one of the lowest in the nation.
I live in Vermont as well...
the only drag about no permit is that we also do not enjoy reciprocity with any states...
So, gotta get non-resident permits, which is time consuming and costly..
I do enjoy the freedom while I am in state though, and have a NH non-resident (working on MA, ME, and CT...)

An armed society is what now again??? And they always want to paint some wild wild west picture of shootouts in saloons and boot hill and the OK corral??? Any yet every place that has the least restrictive gun laws has the lowest crime every time you read about them... And yet all the forced pacifism countries still have rampant violent crime??? Who'da thunk it...
+1 for Vermont's founders... We should all have been so lucky. Oh wait, we all were with the Second Amendment... Wait, I'm still missing something... I know I was going somewhere with this...
