NOT necessarily! Sometimes the springs with the thinnest wire gauge are actually the longest and sometimes not. You can NOT always tell a springs weight by comparative length.
You could call Wolf, although over the phone they may not be able to help much. MORE IMPORTANTLY: Fit each different spring and just choose the best one for the job. What its rating is doesn't matter all that much as long as it reduces pull to where you want it and returns the trigger as fast as you would like in a positive manner with no hesitation. You do not want a "soft trigger return" or any hesitation of any kind.
As far as the Main Spring is concerned, you want 100% positive ignition with good primer hits. You don't say what gun this is for, and the only common Smith I know that coil main springs are used in is a J frame. If that is indeed what we are talking about, I personally do NOT change the Main Spring but might change the Rebound Spring if needed. The lighter weight hammer and shorter fall of a J require a stronger spring for 100% positive ignition. If you are talking about a Smith other than a J, than it uses a Leaf type Main Spring and I never change them. I do sometimes shorten the Strain Screw on those guns, but again, on a carry gun you want a good positive hit.
