Can anyone provide more info on this revolver and the custom work completed on it? S&W 10-8

If memory serves, the oval port/compensator was common in the early 1980s.

Similar to a PPC revolver except for the 4" barrel and lack of a barrel rib/heavy or slab sided barrel.

Correct that the type of porting was popular in the 80s and into the 90s. The shape and position of the ports looks familiar to me but i can't place a smith's name to it. If no one else chimes in, you might want to shoot the pics to Massad Ayoob, the gun writer and trainer. He was very influential with revolversmithing in those days and tested quite a few. HTH!
