THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL POST - PLEASE DO NOT TURN IT INTO ONE!

Having said that, with the prevailing winds, has anyone else be making purchases with that in mind? I've been buying a lot this year, mostly guns that I had wanted for a while, but in a few cases, guns that I suspect could become difficult or even impossible to obtain, like the Sig P226 20 round pistol. I've also increased my reloading supplies. I was at my LGS yesterday - taking delivery of another 45 acp, and the FedEx guy was asking about a gun and the conversation turned to November and what effect it would have on gun sales, and the staff at the store all agreed it would spawn a large sales growth.

Having gone through the assault weapons ban a decade ago, and seeing what happened to prices as well as availability, I decided not to take any chances this time around. Am I alone?

Political climate has never influenced my accumulation of 'things' so November has not influenced me. It has been a slow and steady wins the race approach acquiring those things that catch my eye. This will arrive on Tuesday.....colt competition CRE 18T.

My colt 1911 competition just came in yesterday.....and for the grandson a shooter grade colt frontier scout.

Just in this hobby less than 4 years and I refused to fall into the hoarding or overpaying (esp .22 ammo) from the start. I don't buy my stuff based on who is in charge or who is on the ballots, but (esp speaking for ammo) when I see what i use on sale and available i'll grab a couple boxes here or there.

I like to hit the range at least monthly if not more, and a range visit for me is not "fire a mag worth and leave" so it's more a matter of replenishing and having some stock to cover my needs for awhile.

But running to the store today as i'm concerned about Nov? Nope. But I'm also not into long guns so have avoided any of the AR craziness before or potentially in the future.

My only planned purchase is a Shield in 45 ACP, as soon as I can find one, anyway. If a great deal on a 3rd Gen appeared, I'd be all over it. Otherwise, I'm pretty much caught up, except for some more ammo, as you can never have enough of that!

Since you're only 4 years in the hobby, I'll delve into some history a bit. Those who lived it like me, please skip, as you've already lived it.

When certain legislation was enacted, it not only effected black rifles, but shotguns and pistols as well. One shotgun, named Street Sweeper, was (and still is) banned. It had a drum magazine that held (IIRC) 12 rounds. Hand gun magazines were limited to 10 rounds, even the venerable Browing HP, which has been around since the 30's. There have also been several shortages of ammo and components (any gun in world is useless without ammo, even a blow-gun).

This is in no way meant to defend people who hoard or worse yet, those price gouge even on rumor. I look upon gougers as being just one level above outright thieves.

Thanks for the replies, I like seeing what others think. One member in another post stated he tried to buy a pistol yesterday and the state lines (PA? IIRC) were overwhelmed and he couldn't complete the purchase. So some people are buying.

Not at all,I've kept a fair amount of what I needed for years and buy when things are calm and sometimes sell when things are nuts.Theres nothing any of us little people can do,but think and vote.We just deal with what we get when the time comes

And to round out the most recent acquisitions here is the 1911 competition with the front blue fiber optic. But the gun comes with spares so you can change it out to green and on other color that I can't recall. I have an XSE but I like that this one has no front serration. Might have to do some mix and matching because I like the sights on the XSE more.

Having lived through several bans/attempts in my time, I well remember the ensuing panic and the prices. I'm well stocked. Not to say I haven't picked up one or two other toys just because, with the underlying thought now might a better time with November coming, but I figure my money is mostly better spent trying to fight the insanity - donations to the people I want elected, veteran/first responder groups like Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, the NRA and even hunting groups like SCI/etc that support those I'm supporting.

Public service tip of the day - your chapstick is expired.:D

I learned my lesson several panics ago.
There really ain't nothing I'm interested in on the "might be banned" list. So I'm not pressed to buy any new guns.
I generally stay stocked up on reloading supplies and .22s. But lately, when I do run across good deals, I'll add more to the stock pile. ;)
