So I may start going to Boone, NC for the IDPA and start trying out competition. In the Marine Corps we had small compititions all the time and havent been able to get back into it with low funds with a divorce blah blah but thats not the point. I may take my sigma 40 to the comp. and see how I do.

Just do it! I've been shooting IDPA for a long time...as a shooter, Range Officer and quite a few years as Match Director, and the friends I've made and the good times we've had are priceless to me. I think you'll enjoy it. (and THANKS for your service!)

Do it. Make sure you have legal holster, magazine pouches and 3 magazines. Most ranges are cold so don't show up with a loaded gun. Go to IDPA.com and check out the rule book. Familiarize yourself with the rules and especially the commands that the Safety Officer will be giving you.

Go do it!!! This is my 3rd year and I have a blast every match and everyone I've met has been super nice, friendly, and helpful. Just shot a BUG match this morning and, once again, had a great time.

I looked up all the rules and reg. and just need 1 more mag and a diffrent holster than Im golden, besides the hour drive to Boone but other than that I am ready

Just do it. It is fun. Shoot your first match slow and safe.

There are also USPSA competitions in the area (NC Section). USPSA is a different game with a different emphasis and higher round count stages and matches.

Thanks James I didnt think there were USPSA around here but I see they are very close, I may check it out

Mr. Campbell: I shoot USPSA matches with the Asheville Practical Shooting Assn. Our matches are the 2nd Saturday of the month, range is near Burnsville, NC (up the mtn to Spruce Pine, turn left!!)
Club website is: Untitled Page
Great bunch of guys and girls that shoot there, hope you can make it sometime.
Thanks: Phil

Boone is a nice place to shoot. I believe they're holding the NC State IDPA match again this year.
