It wouldn't surprise me to see a lot more of this kind of private security pop up across the country.
 
Reminds me of Nicaragua. Here's a door greeter at a convenience store when we visited my wife's mother last year.

This can't continue. It won't continue once the benefit is derived from it.
The economy can't withstand the addition costs associated with security.
I know you can buy anything you want on line but it's not practical in all cases. If you take away the cash incentive, the thieves will just resort to robbing goods.
Many businesses are withdrawing from high risk locations. You notice the increase in daylight robbery in middle of downtown areas.
 
At least I know where to safely stop for gas. So sad that there is any place in this country that has to resort to this, but I'm grateful that the decent people in this area have this protection.

Unfortunately there were no "safe" places to get gas in Philly in 1975, I doubt there are any safe places in any major city. Be Safe,
